"real love always stays"
The famous trio were back together again in Stiles' bedroom, spending the last hours of the day researching this bank and printing more things off than they needed to. It was now currently 2:37 am and a particular Scott McCall had fallen asleep on the job while Stiles and Rosie, in comfortable silence, continued on.
Looking up from the article she was reading, Rosie saw Scott asleep and laughed automatically at him. She then turned to Stiles who too was struggling to keep his eyes open but was still trudging on with his mission.
Rosie got up from her station on the bed and slumped down beside Stiles on the floor, leaning her back on the bed. As she did so, Stiles couldn't help but tense up, being beside her, alone, made him nervous, like he had butterflies all over again.
"Well if hes quitting, so am i." She whispered, not wanting to wake sleeping beauty up from his well needed slumber. He didn't reply but instead just chuckled, his shoulders moving up slightly.
"Can I ask you something?" His face didn't turn to face hers and he instead looked out of the window, towards the dark sky scattered with stars. "Pretend I'm not me."
"Um, okay." She sat up and moved herself to sit opposite him, so she could see the expression on his face. It wasn't a clear one which only confused her more, it was on the spectrum of being serious as well as lighthearted.
"You and uh... Isaac?" He asked awkwardly, like the words were a struggle for him to release. Stiles' face was trying to not seem bothered by his own questioning and tried to sooth his curiosity.
She fell silent for a moment, remembering Stiles' insecurity when it came to Isaac only months before. Though she knew there was once again nothing going on between them, she couldn't help but wonder that if there was something going on between them, would Stiles even care?
So what do you do when you're searching for hope in the person who took that away from you? You try to find a reaction, at least that's what her broken heart told her to do.
"Sort of." She replied, instantly regretting it as she saw his face. There was no change in his expression, not even a slither of jealousy. It was as if he wasn't phased by what she had said. Rosie didn't like the silence and tried to take her mind off of things, though only one thing came to mind. "You and Heather?"
"Sort of." He repeated, though there was a hint of aggression to his words, as if he were angry or something. Stiles got up from his seat on the floor and faced away from Rosie as he continued to talk, continuingly taunting her with his words. "Before she went missing, we were getting together yeah, but now we just have to find her again and we can go from where we left off. It was going great."
Rosie was grateful that he was facing away from her so that Stiles wouldn't hear her heart drop as he spoke about being with someone that wasn't her. He'd moved on, is what Rosie believed, even when she didn't want to.
"I think I'm gonna go to sleep."
"You can take the bed if you want." He finally turned around to face her, his hand on the back of his neck. "I'm gonna stay up for a little longer. Find out some more stuff."
