Y/N woke up to the sound of rain. She turned around to grab her phone to check the time. 2 AM...
It was weird. She never woke up in the middle of the night. Ever since she was a child, she had insomnia but a few years ago it got so bad that she visited multiple doctors to get it checked out. She received medication, such as strong melatonin she would take every night. To her relief, it worked. She could finally sleep a full 8 hours.
Today, something was in the air. An eerie, tense atmosphere surrounded her. It seemed unsettling, but Y/N was a paranoid person after all, I mean, what is the worst that can happen? She then remembered that pure distress or anxiety can cause her to wake up, a reasonable cause besides her insomnia.
Is that what caused me to wake up today? Anxiety? What can I possibly feel so stressed about to wake up?
Assuming it might have been a nightmare, she went back to sleep.
After what felt like forever, she woke up... again, well rested. Oddly though, her room wasn't lit up with sunlight as it always is in the mornings. She reached for the phone again.
2:30 AM.
No... what the f*ck? There's no way that was only 30 minutes. Why am I waking up UGHH!
She knew something was wrong. Had she not taken her medication properly? Unable to go back to sleep, she crept out of bed. She shivered. It was way too cold. Turning on all the lights, she walked downstairs.
CRASH.
Y/N nearly tripped over herself. The sudden noise had scared her so much she nearly passed out. It rang through her ears as she tried to contain her rapid heartbeat. There was faint music playing in the background and her heart began to beat even faster.
What the flying f*ck was that?
Y/N slowly walked into the kitchen, where the noise had come from.
She heard a laugh, more like a giggle, a low, deep, mature voice that had come from the laundry room. It sounded... oddly familiar.
Y/N felt like crying. Once again, she was an extremely paranoid person, and she hated the feeling of being scared.
Grabbing a knife and a frying pan, she went in the laundry room, just to find candy wrappers on the floor.
Wait...These are KitKat wrappers... Nobody eats kitkats except for Chase, her boyfriend.
She heard scratches on the wall, and she started to scream and all of a sudden, strong arms were wrapped around her. Y/N stopped screaming as the man talked.
"I scared you pretty badly, didn't I?"
Turning around and scrambling to turn the lights on, she saw a tall, handsome dark-haired boy. She was so relieved she could cry. It was Chase.
"CHASE? WHY ARE YOU HERE? You dumb b*tch, you gave me 15 heart attacks, holy sh*t."
Y/N started to playfully slap him as he bursted out laughing.
"The look on your face! It was so priceless."
"You know, it isn't funny. I almost cried, you know I hate all this scary sh*t you pull. Again, why are you here?"
"I know, Y/N, it was a dare from my sister. She wanted me to scare the person I love the most. I wanted to see your reaction so I snuck in your house at midnight and prepared everything."
Unable to contain her blush, she giggled.
"You just had to pick me hmm? It wasn't funny."
Chase stared at Y/N intensly.
W-what..?
Turning red, he caught himself. "No, uh, sorry, you're so beautiful but you genuinely looked scared, are you okay?"
Laughing, Y/N said "Well, you did just make me think I was in the conjuring for a few minutes but other than that... I'm better than ever!"
Chase smiled, pulling you into a tight hug.
"Sorry, I won't do that again. I mean I'll protect you if any ghosts are around anyway."
"Oh, shut up Chase, but fine, you're forgiven."
Chase stroked her cheek and played with her hair, leaning closer for a kiss. Their lips met as Y/N's heart fluttered a thousand beats a second.
"I love you, Y/N. Listen. I'm going to regret this later, but you're so beautiful..."
He reached for the counter. A sharp blade already contaminated with blood was now in his hands.
C-Chase? What the hell?
Soon, her head started to spin. She began to cough violently as a sharp pain struck her chest. She was losing balance. Her last sight was the digital clock behind chase, which read 3:22 AM.
Screaming, she fell to the ground.
She woke up again, on her bed, breathing hard. She was alive. She felt for her chest. There was no wound... She wasn't in any pain...? Confused, she checked her phone.
3:22 AM.
