Syphere's POV

Wearing my faded, American retro shirt, paired with black cargo pants and a baseball cap, I caught my reflection in the mirror.

The image of me 14 years ago suddenly appeared.  "Mom, do you think I'm qualified to be a superhero?" my younger self asked, a little hope in his eyes.  "Of course, baby," my mom replied. "Paglaki mo, you'll have superpowers!  Would you like that?" napa ismid ako ng maalala ko ang mga katagang iyon.  "Superpowers"—what a shame.

I grew up believing their lies. Those lies became my inner strength. But it all shattered before me, and I was the only one hurt. They vanished without a trace. I woke up one day wala na sila.  I still remember waiting at the gate for them, imagining they were superheroes dealing with some emergency. Ironically, I wanted to be like them, until I lost all hope. I never cried, never asked why they suddenly disappeared. I simply accepted it, and that pushed me to what I have today.

Apat na oras ang byahe from Makati to Bungsod. I don't know it exist hindi naman ako pala gala.

"fuck!! Bakit ngayun kapa nalowbat!!!' Frustration welled up, and I looked to the sky. The soft glow of the moon partially calmed me. I was about to continue walking when I felt an unknown presence behind me, a prickling sensation on the back of my neck that made my hairs stand on end. The forest, usually hushed and still, seemed to hold its breath.  A twig snapped somewhere in the darkness beyond the reach of the moonlight.

"anong ginagawa mo dito"

I can almost hear my heartbeat. He's not asking at all, just simply warning. I slowly turned towards him. Slow fade moss green haircut. Wearing a deadly stare. Okay medyo bothered ako sa mukha niya. Actually he has this good features typically a crushy campus look. But what with the weird aura?

"I will repeat my question. What are you doing here?" Nagsalubong ang medyo makapal na kilay nito. Naiinip.

"Easy bro, wala akong balak na masama. I just need to confirm something" taas kamay kong sagot. Look defeatedly. Hindi naman ako dito pumunta para makipag away. Sa mukha neto baka ako pa mag kulay berde.

"anong sabi mo?"

His voice change from horrible to soft voice. Napakamot pa ito sa ulo niya. The fuck? Huminga muna ako ng malalim bago siya sinagot ng maayos

"I came here to confirm something," I said. "I want to know if what I saw here 3 days ago was really a school."

His eyes widened. He choked on his own breath, his face paling dramatically.  He stared at me, speechless, his jaw slack.

Oa naman ng mukhang lumot na to.  akala niya criminal tong kausap niya e.

"I know na hindi ka pani-paniwala ang mga pinag sasabi ko, as I said I just want to confirm. You can leave first" I din't even finish my sentence ng sumapaw ito. Bastos a

"what again?? Academy?? Nakikita mo ang academy?" It's my turn to froze. "What do you mean 'nakikita?' Obviously I have my eyes. "  medyo inis na bigkas ko

I laughed with my own word, but the man before me was silent, watching me closely. Then he whispered something to himself. The wind exploded around me, a sudden wave of freezing air that made my skin prickle. I pulled my arms in close, trying to get warm.
