A Winter Fire || Logan Howlett

Chapter 13

At the research compound, William Stryker waited for the delivery of Laura Maximoff or better known as Nix. The man showed a wicked smirk, when he saw his men carry in an unconscious body.

"Place her on the table, we need to do some tests and make sure she can go through with the experiment" He ordered his men, who not so gently placed the woman on the metal table.

The coldness of the metal seemed to wake Laura up, making her gasp and look around at her surroundings.

"W-what the hell? Where am i?" She stammered, then her eyes met the one's of her old boss, Stryker.

"Hello, Nix. It's good to see you again. I see marriage is doing you good, you look well" This caused Laura to let out a snarl, as she tried to claw at his face but she was then restrained to the table.

The woman continued snarling and growling like an animal, until she felt a prick in her neck and her body started to go numb.

"Now, now Nix. I see you still have that fiery temper. Now you rest up, we'll start the experiment after the check up" With that, Laura's eyes closed and her world went dark.

The next time Laura woke up, she found herself hovering over a tank of water. She noticed a blonde woman looking down at her, who then started to talk.

"When it starts, whatever the reason that you're doing this...focus on that" She said.

"I didn't ask to do this, i was forced" Laura spat, causing the other woman to flinch and walk away. Laura looked back up to the ceiling, knowing that there is no way she can get out of this and sighed heavily.

"We're going to make you indestructible, but first, we're going to have to destroy you" Stryker said, and started to walk off but stopped to turn back to the woman.

"Oh, and i thought i would let you know, that because Logan thinks you're dead, he's volunteered for this same experiment" Hearing this, Laura growled loudly.

"When this is finished, I'm going to fucking slaughter you. You hear me!" She yelled, but Stryker didn't care and walked away from the furious woman.

"Generals, welcome. General Munson. Today, You're going to witness medical history. Not once, but twice. Today, we're going to create Weapon X and XI. We're about to begin bonding adamantium to Weapon X's skeleton. Let's begin" Stryker said.

Laura flinched slightly, feeling her body move down under the water. The woman then saw a bunch of hot needles aim at different parts of her body, which made her anxiety spike.

Not being able to hear anything, Laura waited anxiously for the pain to begin.  And when the needles pierced into her skeleton, she hoped that it did kill her.

The pain was like nothing she had ever felt before, and she could feel her heart hammering against her chest.

Then past memories started to play out in her mind, she saw Victor, Logan, Charles and the other X-Men. Laura's body kept thrashing in the water, both the pain of the memories and the actual physical pain was unbearable. She wanted to scream, but with the tube in her mouth she couldn't.

Eventually her heart was beating so fast, that it gave up on her. The last memory that she saw was hers and Logan's wedding day, before she grew limp. Stryker and his team watched as the woman stopped moving, and her heart rate went flat.

"Well, i guess she can die" General Munson sighed, then the room went silent again. Stryker moved away from the railing, and brought a fist to his mouth.

And just when he thought he failed, a single beep went off on the heart monitor. He turned slowly, and watched as her heart started beating again.

"Come on, old friend. Come back" Stryker whispered, watching the woman in the tank carefully.

"Heart rate rising" The blonde woman spoke up.

"Adamantium reservoir is depleted" Another person said.

"No rejection. Procedure completed"

"We did it. I'm definitely certain it will work on her husband" Stryker laughed in amazement and relief.

Back at the tank, Laura was still unconscious but for some reason her hearing was working and she could hear Agent Zero speaking to Stryker.

"We taking her to the island?" Zero asked.

"The island? No. Bonding works. Erase her memory" When Laura heard this, alarm bells went off in her mind.

He was going to make her forget everything. Logan? Charles? Sean? Alex? Hank? No, no that's not going to happen, not if she has anything to do with it.

Her eyes suddenly open, and she could feel her claws growing from her fingers. She trashed around, eventually breaking out of the restraints.

"I think she heard you" Zero swallowed nervously.

Laura felt herself rise from the water, and a deep animalistic roar echoes through-out the room. Everyone around the room looked at the enraged woman, and couldn't help the fear that settled in. Stryker's eyes widened, as he got a better look at the woman.

Dressed in nothing but a wrap around her chest and underwear, he could see that her skin had faint patches of spots. Her nails were now made of metal, her canines were longer and sharper. And what he noticed most, were her eyes. Before they were a light green, now, they seemed to be glowing a bright ocean blue.

Before Laura could do anything, Agent Zero shot two bullet at her skull but all that did was piss her off even more. Leaping out of the tank, the woman sliced and clawed at the agents that got in her way, and once they were dead, she ran through the emergency door and that's when she knew she had escaped.

Slicing through a giant metal door, Laura was welcomed with the outside. Still panting heavily, the woman looked down at her nails and her eyes widened.

They were longer than her old ones, and where now made of metal. That'll definitely be useful. Looking away and without thinking, the female Howlett jumped off the cliff and down into the waterfall.

Laura then made her way towards the woods, and just ran. Not once did she look back. And after running for half an hour, the woman came upon a house with a large barn. Without hesitation, Laura ran towards the barn not seeing a car driving her way and went into the barn.

"I think there's a naked woman in the barn"




A/N I know Logan is Weapon X, but because she was experimented on first she's going to be Weapon X and Logan will be Weapon XI.
