Lola got up in the morning, got dressed, put on her shoes and sat down at the kitchen table to eat her oatmeal when she heard her phone beep. "No. Not yet. It's only 7:30...ugghhhh." she glanced at the phone to see Bruno's number pop up.

Good morning, Lola. :)

(you can't type emojis but imagine those are emojis). She picked it up quickly looking at her phone shocked. "What?" she asked a bit too loudly.

"Quit talking to yourself. God." Lacie said grabbing a pop tart.

"Lacie! What the hell is this?" she asked pushing the phone in her roommate's face.

"What? Oh my godddd!" Lacie responded with the same type of shock.

"What do I say? What do I do?" she asked nervously.

"Leave it. Text him after work. Ask him how his day and been and see if he answers...." Lacie said.

"Hmm. Not hard to get but not like sitting at my phone waiting for him to text me..." Lola thought. "Okay." she smiled reaching for her cup of coffee. "I have to go to work."

"I'll be home late." Lacie yelled with her mouth full. Lola waved her hand acknowledging her roommate. She wondered down the street brushing off the text message from Bruno going to the office scrambling to get to a weekly meeting.

"Okay, I'm hereeee...." she sang sliding into one of the few seats that were left in the large board room. The meeting went on as usual with people discussing their ideas for the next five days.

"So, Lola..." her editor turned to her. "What is going on with you this week?"

"Writing..." she sighed with a laugh getting a stare from everyone. "Well okay...." she said looking at her phone. "When your dream date turns into a nightmare...." she said out loud. "Like you have this idea that seems amazing and then you get the chance to do it and you're like 'Wow, that was horrible.'" she explained. "And then some about local bars and the single scene." she told them. "All before deadline." she said triumphantly.

"Yeah. Okay. I'll believe that when I see that." her co-worker Gabi said.

"Whatever, Gabi," Lola laughed continuing to listen to her coworkers continue to talk about their week. Oh shit. Bruno Mars texted me this morning...she glanced at her phone deciding to text him exactly what Lacie had said to him.

At the end of the two hour meeting she walked out of the board room running to get to another co-worker Penny. "Oh my god...." she met Penny sitting down at her desk. "You would not even believe last night...."

"What?" Penny asked. 'What happened with the guy from the benefit?"

"That's what I'm talking about!" Lola said excited. "I mean...oh my god..." she got a litte quieter. "It's Bruno Mars..." she said.

"What?" Penny asked.

"Yes. That Bruno Mars." she answered. "Yes. That Bruno Mars." she paused reaching her phone. "And he texted me this morning..."

Fab! We got dis.

"What is he talking about?" Penny asked.

"I think he's talking about working in the studio." she wondered. "Not sure. I'll ask."

"But oh my god!" Penny said. "That's Bruno Mars."

"Yes. It is. Now what do I do?" she asked. "He said he really likes me...and he's like all about me not being the 'New York girl'."

"Oh my..." Penny answered. "Can we pleassse go to luch to talk about this? I am obsessed already. I mean, you end up with a lot of randoms but this is the best random so far."

"Let's just go to lunch." she said to Penny grabbing her purse.

"Yes please." Penny laughed as they got to the elevator. They walked down the street to the small cafe down the street.

"Wait..shit..." Lola stopped dead in her tracks causing someone to bump into her.

"I'm sorry." she turned around to say she was sorry.

"What?" Penny asked.

"Fucking Cody." she said a bit too loud seeing him turn around. He smiled at her stepping out of line to go see her.

"Hey there." he said as she reached out to hug and kiss him on the cheek. "What are you doing here?"

"Lunch?" she said a bit too sarcastically.

"I'm going to go order..." Penny said side stepping Cody and Lola.

"I'm sorry..." Lola said to him.

"Yeah. I am too." he shrugged. "How are you?" he asked.

"Good." she said feeling his hand reach over to hers. The soft familiar skin of the man she had dated for the last nine months caused butterflies to run up and down her body. What the fuck? She thought to herself. She looked into his caring brown eyes that hid behind thick rimmed black glasses. She noticed the small hairs he missed while shaving the night before and the slight receding hairline.

"So...." he started glancing a his phone. "I think lunch is almost over...."

"Yeah." she said nervously.

"Soo...." he paused. "Like if you aren't busy this weekend would you like to go out? Maybe to the theater?"

She looked at him a bit shocked hearing her phone buzz.

The studioooo!

"Ummm...." she stalled. "My boss...."

"Yeah. Okay. We can talk later." he said standing up touching her shoulder kissing the top of her head. "Have a good day, baby."
