As the sun was waking up so was Aria. Her honey brown eyes blinked open to get her first glance at the morning light. It was only her first month back to school and she hated it. The classes were hard, the students were snobby, the teachers were boring, and there were not cute guys ; well that's what she originally thought. 1 hour, 15 minutes, and 32 seconds; that's how long it took Aria Johnson to get ready in the morning. She was the type of person to go all out for school, even though there was no real reason for it. She put on a pretty satin cream colored dress with a lace trim, to go on top of that she put on a light pink cardigan that was cropped.
"SHIT" she exclaimed, it was now 7:10 am and she only had 5 minutes to walk to her bus stop. She ran down her stairs and grabbed her converse; quickly slipping them on and tying them. She grabbed a pop tart from the pantry and started walking down her street. Her bus came quickly down her street stopping suddenly with a screech. As she entered the bus she felt all eyes on her. One month into school and she couldn't get used to all eyes being on her. Before this year Aria had been homeschooled her whole life; therefore, she wasn't used to the whole public school thing. She really needed to get the hang of it already.
It was now 7:45 and she was at school. For the last 25 minutes she had until school started she sat in the library and read. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th period; that's how many period she had gone through until she got to lunch. Finally she could see her best friend, Phoebe. Despite the fact Aria had been homeschooled for most of her life, that didn't stop them from being friends. They had been neighbors for as long as aria had lived there, and best friends for 10 years. Phoebe was so ecstatic when she heard the news; Aria would finally be going to her school.
The lunch room was loud and smelled like absolute shit. The lights were dim and yellow, and there was two levels to it.The food was crappy, undercooked, and the portion sizes were so off. That never stopped Aria though, she ate the school food despite how absolutely raunchy it was. Laughter filled the two girls as they ate and takes about all the little things that went on in their life. Lunch was too short to talk about the things they needed too. However, Aria has english next period; and in her favor Phoebe also has that class.
At the beginning of the class the girls just gossiped to their hearts desire. 5 minutes after the bell rang someone burst into class, Roman Anderson. Aria knew him solely because he was in her English class, and he was on their schools hockey team. She's seen him a few times while he was practicing on their schools ice rink, she had just been doing some figure skating. He was an interesting character to say the least, he was loud, talkative, weird, nerdy, cute, and funny. Tons of girls completely swooned over him; although, she didn't get the appeal.
she groaned in frustration wishing class could be over already. She watched the hands on the clock move seemingly getting slower and slower, when finally the bell rang. She jumped out of her seat and headed for the door when she ran into someone. She looked up and it was the one and only Roman Anderson. Her face flushed in embarrassment, how could this happen to her. Roman turned around quickly glancing at her as she quickly muttered an apology. Before she could walk away he grabbed her hand and pulled her back. He began to speak "Can I have your number?", a shocked expression covered her face. "Uh yeah" she spoke and she wrote down her number in his phone. He thanked her as she walked off; the stunned expression never leaving her face after that.
Class went by as a blur, she just wanted to school to be over; not to mention, she had figure skating practice after school and she was really excited to be on the ice. She loved figure skating, it had been a passion of hers for years. Her mom enrolled her in figure skating when she was just 6 years old and now she's 17 and it's still a huge dream of hers. It was her one and only love, constantly fogging up her brain making it the only thing she can think about. After high school she wanted to join the Olympics figure skating team or some other professional ice skating team. She dreamed of being famous for doing what she loved and that was ice skating.
As her skates glides around the ice she focused on her form and technique. Her long black hair flowing in the wind and she spins on the ice. The delicate dress flowing as she flawlessly skated over the ice. She felt at piece when she was on the ice. Nothing else mattered to her, she was in her own world. Her mind in fantasy while the beautiful music fills the silence. It was her safe place, her escape.
The music slowed along with her movements. Her mind resurfacing to reality and paying attention to the world around.
Opening her eyes to see Roman Anderson staring at her. Their eyes connected making Roman look away quickly. As a blush crept on Arias face she skated off the rink. Not looking from sheer embarrassment that Roman would follow her or merely even look at her. She didn't understand why all of a sudden he was always around her, it was starting to slightly freak her out.She packed up her things and changed out of her skates in the locker room. Packing her bag and dragging herself outside the small, damp, smelly, and sweaty room. She grabbed her headphones from her bag blasting her music, she wanted nothing more than to shut out the rest off the world and be alone. Although, a task like that is nearly impossible when you've caught the attention of a restless hockey player. She was growing slightly annoyed with the attention this boy was giving her but nonetheless he wouldn't give up.
She felt a tap on her shoulder and looked over to see Roman. She gave him a slight smile and turned down her music. He cleared his throat as he started talking "you looked amazing out there you know". A bright smile appeared on her face as she thanked him. Continuing the questions he asked "how long have you been skating?" She didn't even have to think about this question "since 2nd grade" she said as she slightly picked up the pace. They walked side by side talking and smiling as she soon arrived at her bus stop. They parted there ways as she ended up giving him her phone number. She smiled a big smile and waved bye and she entered the bus not being able to wipe the blush off her face.
