"It's gonna be easy, all we have to do is cross the river of death."
Ellie and Joel sat across from Tommy and Maria absolutely demolishing their food, Joel with a little bit more manners than the girl next to him. "Actually I don't think I've ever had a proper meal, this is fucking amazing," Ellie said while shoveling food into her mouth. "Sorry. Ellie lets mind our manners." Joel apologized for her.
"It's fine Joel. So you too are heading up to the firefly base camp right, the one in the university?" Maria asks getting a nod from both of them. "You know Ana needs to go there, her Mums there she says," Maria states turning to Tommy. "Maria." Tommy tries to stop her. "What? We might be able to make a deal. If you two took Ana with you we would be able to give you supplies and there will always be space for you here if you want to return what do you say?" Maria asks Joel. "Look your gonna need to give me a bit more information about this girl before I agree to anything, plus the travel is going to be hard enough with us two. I don't need a second person to try and keep out of trouble and alive." Joel looks at Ellie to try and see her reaction to possibly taking another person but she doesn't say yes or protest. "Trust me Ana can take care of herself, in fact, it will probably benefit you to take her the girl can shoot a gun that's for sure. Ana lost her mother when she was younger I found her a few years later but we recently got intell that her mum was running with the fireflies. Anything you need you'll have it, I promise." The deal sounds promising. Joel looks at Ellie asking her for her thoughts on the subject. "Hey, maybe she can teach me how to shoot a gun."
Anastasia was walking through the dining area when suddenly someone caught her eye. "You've got to be kidding me." The girl mumbled under her breath. Ellie Williams. Ellie and Anastasia were in the QZ together. Lets just say the two didn't really get along well. They weren't enemies per say but the two seemed like polare opposites. Ellie kept to herself in the QZ with the exception of her best friend Riley. Ellie also was way more hot headed than the other girl or maybe she was just worse at controlling her anger. Anastasia was liked by pretty much everyone, which meant that Ellie and Riley took a disliking to her, to them she seemed fake and honestly she was. Anastasia was always putting on a facade, never dropping her guard for one moment.
"Ana are you in here?" Maria walked through the door of where Anastasia had been staying. "what was that new girl doing with you today, in the dining area?" Anastasia poked her head into the living room, where Maria was standing from the kitchen. "Well actually that's what I wanted to talk to you about. Their both headed to the firefly camp where we think you mum is. Now I think I've been able to convince them to take you with them. What do you say?" Anastasia paused there for a moment. What would Ellie think of her, after not seeing her in months. Anastasia knew that the other girl never took a liking to her, but Anastasia didn't dislike Ellie, she actually kind of admired her, her ability to just not give a fuck about what anyone says, she wanted that but couldn't have it. Their was always to much pressure on her to be this, perfect girl.
"Anastasia said that she will go with you guys." Tommy said while pouring Joel a drink at the bar. "Come on Tommy, I can barely keep me and Ellie alive and Ellie needs to make it to the fireflies. Maybe you can come along with us then maybe we will have a better chance." Joel said while wondering around checking out the bar. "Joel I can't help you, Maria's pregnant... I've got a family to think about now I can't just leave it. To be honest i'm scared to death. You know I always thought I would make a good father." Joel who was now standing next to Tommy was frozen for a moment. He then topped up his drink. "I guess we'll find out." Tommy turned his head around in shock. "'I guess we'll find out.' that's all you got?" Tommy asked "What else am i supposed to say?" Joel turned around to face Tommy. "Just cause life stopped for you doesn't mean it has to stop for me." Tommy stood up. " I'll take the girl but you will give us anything we need. We'll be out of your hair in the morning." Joel left the bar.
The next morning came. Ellie had been given a brief run down of the conversation Joel and Tommy had from Joel obviously leaving out their argument.
Ellie and Joel thought they were the first ones to the stables. Joel even started to wonder if Tommy had told this Ana girl that they agreed to take her. At the back of the stables was a note on top of a pile of resources, "Some stuff you'll probably need" read the note. There were things like a couple guns, some good knifes, food ect.
Anastasia had already been ready for a while she went back to the stables to see if she could find Ellie and Joel there. She walked in and saw Joel packing the resources in their bags when she caught his eye. Ellie on the other hand was too occupied with the horse to notice Anastasia walking in.
"You must be Ana?" Joel said then tapped Ellie on the shoulder to get the girls attention. Ellie's head went over her shoulder to look at the other girl. "You've got to be fucking kidding me." Ellie was shocked and was immediately filled with regret for agreeing to taking her with them.
"Are you guys coming or what?"
