He just stands there staring at me. He doesn't say a word because I haven't said a word because how on earth am I supposed to ask him for money. Like he's literally the last person on earth I'd want to ask for help.
The cab guy hoots several times which is a reminder that I better speed up. I've wasted enough of his time already. My eyes turn to Jake. He raises both his eyebrows as he crosses both his arms across his chest.
"Is Liv here? I left my purse in her car and I need to pay the cab driver."
"No she's not here." He walks back in and closes the door shut on me.
"Come on. Jake." I call out knocking.
I really hate myself now.
Seconds later the door is opened.
"Liv's not here." He says.
"I heard you. Can you help me? Kindly. I need to pay for the cab." I request. "I'll pay you back."
There goes the cab guy with the hooting.
"Please."
"You're not the damsel in distress type."He argues. This time that was supposed to mean something because earlier I discredited him as a knight in shining armor.
"Are you seriously kidding me right now? Come on. I don't have time for that."
"I have all night." He smiles as I try hard to contain myself.
"I know you're enjoying this-"
He cuts me off laughing.
"You have no idea."
I sigh.
"Jake. Please."
"Why come to me? You should be running to your boyfriend."
Oh. It had slipped my mind that Alex was sort of arrested.
"He was sort of arrested." I say.
"That takes care of that problem."
Doesn't he have any remorse whatsoever?
I can't argue with him because we'll be at that all night. I don't have time for that because an angry cab man is already thinking that I'm going away with his money.Jake stares at me for a moment before letting me in. I watch him walk out in the rain and straight to the cab guy. I don't know what they're talking about but he doesn't even reach for his pocket. Shortly after the cab drives away and he walks back in dripping wet.
Well, that's my fault.
"Thankyou. Really." I say. But instead of responding he takes off his shirt walking away as his heavily built self meets my gaze.
I proceed to the guestroom where I change into comfortable clothes after a quick shower. Because I need to know what happened as well as find out if Alex is okay. Jake on the other end is in the living room seated comfortable doing whatever he's doing at his phone.
He's in black sweatpants and black hood.
"What happened at the party?" I ask. "I went back and nobody was there."
"Everyone got bored and went home." He responds without sparing an eye contact.
"And why isn't Liv here?"
"Turns out his boyfriend resurrected and she wanted to bear witness."
"Martin is okay?" I ask and this time he spares me a glance.
