"What do you see?"
"Get ready, their coming" I quickly raised my hand gun and pointed it at the door. Hana, my older sister backed away from the door. My hands started sweating, I was breathing heavily and my head was pounding. I looked over to Hana "Wait" she whispered I nodded in response as a loud bang came from the other side of the door.
I put my finger over the trigger of the gun. I sighed in frustration as I tried to hold the gun still, it kept shaking.
My name is Abbey, Im with my older sister Hana we got stuck in this empty shed in the middle of nowhere. We were running from those things. Their everywhere. Everywhere we go there's more and more of them. For months now we have been running and running nothing but running.
Well, I'm 13 years old and my sister Hana is 17 years old. We lived with our father but he died a couple weeks ago.
"go, go run and hide, don't come out no matter what okay? " He paused between words trying to catch his breath. I just nodded to out of breath to talk. Me and my sister ran for hours until we found a house. "Here" I said running up to the house. I ran up to the door turning and pulling on the door but it wouldn't open. I looked behind me and there was around 30 of those things coming towards us. "Hello? Let us in please!" I yelled as loud as I could. I heard the door unlock and I pushed the door open and ran in with Hana behind me.
"Who are you" a woman around 30 years old asked me as she shut the door and locked it. "I'm Abbey and this is Hana" I put my hands on my knees and tried to catch my breath.
"Abbey watch out!" I quickly turned around and screamed. I took my gun and hit the thing on the head with the handle of my gun. The thing fell and I shot it in the head. "Abbey come on!" I ran as fast as I could out the door and followed Hana. "Were are we going" I said out of breath Hana just shook her head no. I guess that means she doesn't know.
It didn't help that it was like 100°F here.
After hours of running and stopping for breath we found a small town. "It's probably not safe here" Hana said stopping. I stopped next to her "Let's just go see" I walked down the road. It didn't look like anything was here. "Let's check the town out tomorrow it's getting dark" I nodded walking over to the first place I saw.
I looked threw the glass window I think it's a store. "It looks safe" Hana nodded and opened the door, surprisingly it was unlocked. I stepped in behind Hana. "You check over here and I'll check the other side" I nodded and raised my gun and slowly walked threw the store isles there was nothing but food and drinks of all kinds.
I sighed in relief I haven't eaten in days. I took a box of chips off the shelf. I turned the bag over and it read 'expiration date: July 20, 2015' it was still good.
I have been keeping the date sense the Apocalypse it was June 15. "Abbey did you see all this food?!"
"Yeah I know" I smiled and opened the bag and started to eat all the chips. In a couple of minutes the bag was gone.
I grabbed a Gatorade off the shelf and opened it. "Don't go threw that food so quickly" I turned around and there was a boy, around my age standing at the other end of the isle. "Wha- who are you?"
"I'm Caden and you are?"
"I'm Abbey" I said shyly. He started to walk closer and closer to me. I backed up and he smiled and giggled "I'm not gonna hurt you don't worry"
I stood in place and didn't say anything. I didn't know who he was, he could have a plan to kill us, he name probably isn't even Caden. "Abbey come look at this" Caden took the gun out of my hands, turned around and aimed it at Hana "No!" I yelled.
Caden lowered his gun and turned around "You know her?"
"She's my sister" I said quietly. He turned back around "What's your name?"
"Hana, yours? "
"Caden"
