gearing up to go next door, jaime got stuff to go out with and locked her door, knocking on jesse and benji's.

the door didn't budge and a scent of popcorn wafter beneath the door crack. "jesse, i know you're in there. all i can smell is popcorn and i can hear e.t. from your headphones. jesse, i want to talk to you."

the door opened and jaime's heart almost sunk at the stoic look. "hey, i tried to call you but you wouldn't answer." "i got them."

"i'm sorry i yelled at you, i'm sorry i caused us to fight. aubrey has been pissing me off so much and-"

"seriously?" his voice was soft and jaime had to admit, it scared her, "you think i'm mad because you yelled at me?" "i know i..." "no, you don't. you think you do but you don't. you push me away when i try to help you. why is that?"

jaime was speechless but tried to put words together, "don't make this into a therapy session, jesse. i-" "a therapy session? look, until you can figure out what your goal is, i'm done with- whatever this is."

the door closed. it didn't slam and jaime was confused. she took a deep breath in and for the first time in nearly a year, swallowed her pride.

she knew where she had to go.

ringing the doorbell, jose opened the door, "chiame? what are you doing here?"

"i really miss them. and i miss jesse." "you thought quitting was the answer?"

jaime looked up and sipped the cold beverage, "i didn't quit, i got kicked out." "do you think that was the answer, regardless of what anyone did?"

"... no." "then why aren't you trying to fix it?" "i'd probably get shot by aubrey if i set foot in that hall again. she hates my guts."

"what about jesse?" jose furrowed his brows. "what happened between the two of you?" "i thought you didn't like jesse, papa." "times change. he is also a very sweet boy."

jaime scoffed at herself. "papa?" "yes?" "i know what i need to do."

jose smiled, she was her fathers daughter at heart. "go do it, chiame."

jaime walked into the hall and saw many sights. "guys! guys, stop! what is going on?"

aubrey quickly picked herself up and snatched the pitch pipe, "nothing. nothing. this is a bellas rehearsal."

"i know, i just... wanted to apologise. what i did was a really dick move and i shouldn't have changed the set without asking you guys. i definitely shouldn't have left, i let you all down." jaime fiddled with her shirt. "aubrey, id be happy to come back if you wanted me back in."

aubrey stayed silent so jaime took that as a no, beginning to drag a chair to the entrance and looking back every so often.

"wait." aubrey finally said. jaime huffed out a breath of relief and walked back. "jaime, i understand i've been hard on you. i know that applies to everyone here but i am my fathers daughter and he always said if at first you don't succeed, pack your bags."

"i get it. i haven't seen my father in five years, the last interaction we had was him yelling at me nonstop for making mom leave." jaime explained, "the first interaction we had, in five years, was at the police station, strictly telling me that i shouldn't have broken the center's window." she side eyed amy and amy said sorry in a hushed whisper.

everyone stayed silent, "why don't we do a little exercise? get to know each other better?"

"i'll confess something that not a lot of people know about me," staci began. "i have a lot of sex."

"staci." amy said, "we know." "only because i just told you." staci crossed her arms.

as everyone began to share things, amy and jaime sighed, "i'll go." jaime said, "my first name isn't jaime. its chiame."

"and i'm not really fat amy." amy admitted. "my name is fat patricia." everyone quietly gasped.

aubrey stood up and looked straight at jaime, "jaime, what do we do?"

walking down where the riff off was held, jaime adjusts her coat. "let's do this shit. aubrey, please pick a song to start with." "bruno mars, just the way you are." "great pick. chloe, do you want to take the road?"

"yeah."

everyone began vocalizing, chloe sang her part.

"her eyes, her eyes make the stars look like they're not shining. her hair, her hair falls perfectly without her trying. she's so beautiful and i tell her everyday."

jaime came in with hers, "oh oh, i was thinking bout her, thinkin bout me. thinkin' bout us, what we gon' be. in my eyes, it was only just a dream."

"and everytime, she asks me, do i look okay? i'll say~."

"it was only just a dream."

the way everything wrapped together, jaime realised that this was a huge step in the right direction for the group.

the song wrapped up and on three, everyone harmonized. yet chloe harmonized with a deep chord.

"what was that?" amy asked.

"i- i don't know." jaime smiled as cynthia rose laughed, "with your messed up vocal chords, we can hit the bass notes."

"do you know what that means?" aubrey asked. lilly held her hand up, "yes lilly?"

"i think i have something that can help us out." everyone gasped.

amy held her hand out, "excuse me bitch, you don't need to shout."
