【Hajime's Pov】
I slowly opened my eyes, quickly shutting them again in reaction to the bright light. They felt as if they hadn't moved in a long time. I looked around confused, slowly realizing that I was confined in a small box. Suddenly, memories flooded back to me in a wave. I put my hands on the clear green lid above me and pushed gently. A soft airy sound coming from it. I slowly sat up, my spine feeling as if it was ready to snap at the slightest movement. In my blurry vision I saw a short-ish man in a suit with light brown hair walk up to me with a smile.
"Hajime! I'm glad you finally woke up! I almost thought you never would." He gave a small chuckle. "You're actually the last up. The others are waiting right now, but I think you would want to look at yourself first." He handed me a small mirror. I raised it up to my face before dropping onto my lap.
"W-wait no...I-I thought that I was still... Why, why do I look like-like him?!" I yelled. Shakily I brought the mirror back up to my face. His horrified face staring back. I looked at the face more carefully. Long, raven hair streamed down my face. Almost like a river. My left eye was a piercing red, but my right eye was dull green. My original color.
I looked back up to the man in front of me, whom I now recognized as Makoto. "Could...could you bring me a pair of s-scissors please?" My voice was shaky and hoarse, most likely because I haven't spoken in a long time.
"Sorry, Hajime, I can't give any of you guys weapons of any kind." He spoke. "Please? Watch me all you want, I just really need them." He sighed. "Alright... But give them back to me right after you're done!" He walked off before returning with safety scissors in hand.
"I can't give you actual scissors, so...Do what you can with these." He handed them over whilst holding the blades.
I took them over to a small section of my thick hair. I wasn't sure if they could even get through it, but I was sure as hell gonna try. I snipped harshly at the dark locks as they dropped down beside me. Tears began to ride down my cheeks as I struggled to tear through each strand, leaving a choppy mess behind. My mind began to draw blank, my only thoughts we're separation from him. I quickly went from cutting to ripping, the dull blades only aiding in snapping each strand easier.
When I was done my fingers hurt from holding onto the handle so hard, and my eyes were puffy from crying. I was surrounded by ropes of hair as I controlled my breathing. I looked up to see Makoto gone. He probably left due to my breakdown. I picked up the mirror and saw the hack job I had done. To my surprise, the color had faded. Each strand had gone to a darker brown and had a blunt end, never seeming to be the same length as the one beside it.
I stood up from the pod, several remains of what I had done drifting to the ground. I began walking to where Makoto told me the other were, putting my hand on the knob.
I opened it to see the other remaining survivors look up at me as I entered. Kazuichi spoke up first. "Yo dude, the fuck happened to your hair?" He asked, pointing to my hair, akin to Mikan's. "Don't, don't ask." I replied as I sat down next to Akane.
"Wow, Kazuichi. We finally meet up with Hajime and that's the first thing you say to him? I'm even more disappointed than I was originally." Sonia said with a frown before turning to me. "I'm very glad that you are with us! We missed you." She smiled at my sweetly. I smiled back. "How long was I asleep?" Sonia opened her mouth to reply before Fuyuhiko cut her off. "Like 5 whole fuckin days after me. Those bastards said we were gonna wake up all together. I wasn't tryna wait a whole damn week for someone to get up." 5 days?
"Another thing Hajime," Akane spoke up. "We were thinkin, since you have the whole Izuru thing goin on, that you could get...everyone else up too." I shuddered at his name. "Maybe. I don't really know." I thought about it for a minute before talking again. "I think I can. I'll just have to find out how." I looked up at everyone. Their eyes seemed to light up at the prospect that a fallen loved one could come back. "I'll try talking to the foundation. They'll probably know." Everyone nodded, and as if on cue Kyoko walked in.
"It's getting late. I think it would be best if you all had gotten some rest. Especially you, Hajime. Since you just woke up." She walked back out the door after finishing. "Well, I'll show ya where we gotta sleep." Kazuichi dragged me over to a room filled with beds. "Welp. Night Haj." He climbed into one, along with everyone else. I sighed and claimed one before drifting to sleep.
