After spending a long and tiring day when all of my energy is sucked up by a weary routine, when my muscles were well on their way to becoming Jell-O, the only thing that gives solace is walking on this icy path, barefooted.

The sun had set half an hour ago, and the streetlights cast a hazy orange glow over the snow-packed sidewalks.

The city was under a blizzard warning, but the bad weather wouldn't kick in until later in the evening. It was also faster for me to walk home than take the Metro, which freaked out whenever there was so much as an inch of snow.

One would think it is easy to live in D.C, well not for me. Even my whole life was never easy. I had to keep changing places, I'll move out of here as soon as I've secured enough money.

The cold path, the dark alleys, no sign of homo-sapiens around me..

"Ahhh" I sighed for a bit longer.
The weather is making crave for the thing I'm addicted to, knowing that the amount of intake would leave me with diabetes but this is my only source of getting away from bitter reality.

I searched for candies in my pocket and only to find a lighter...

"Who the hell put this in my pocket it doesn't even work"

I tried to litter it but the disappointment made me toss it in the bushes around the sidewalk.

"I have to go to the editorial board meeting tomorrow morning I must hurry up and go home for now otherwise that bush-headed Allison would bash me for coming late", I muttered to myself as I have just ME with myself. Don't freak out its my habit to talk to myself.

Reaching the apartment that takes 75% of my income, I turned on the lights and tossed the boots somewhere on the floor. Keeping them for long in hands made my muscles cramp.

I drifted off to sleep as soon as I went to my bed.
