Prologue: Nigrum Lacrimae

The Angelus bloodline, a clan of prideful individuals, once passionate about protecting and securing humans and elves—many called them angels sent from the heavens with good intentions! However, just like anyone with the need for absolute power, the clan succumbed to the ways of dark magic and the influence of the fallen star, betraying Xadia and enraging the elves and dragons with their treacherous actions, placing a curse on the bloodline so that many generations in the future suffer the karmic debt. Thinking this was too cruel a fate for them, descendants abandoned dark magic practices, allowing them to gain control of the curse to make it less sufferable and more tolerable. Nevertheless, their efforts would only be in vain when a young boy was born with black-stained eyes, crying a sort of black goo and screeching inhumanly. Moreover, it was revealed that the curse was still intact with the bloodline.
The child was abandoned at the Xadian border right before the others were brutally murdered by Moonshadow assassins making the young child the sole survivor of the Angelus clan.

"Stop. Do you hear that?" The man stopped in his tracks, planting his staff into the ground. He glanced ahead, the bright light of the scorching lava burning his eyes as he failed to see the small basket up ahead, only hearing a slight noise. Slowly, he walked forward, kneeling and peering through the cloth. A young albino child lay crying, the heat making him burn up profusely. A soldier walked up behind the man, standing at attention. "It seems to be a child, Lord Viren." He stated, watching as the high mage checked the infant's ears and hands; he was human. The young Viren furrowed his eyebrows, wondering why someone would leave their child by a cliff. One slight vibration in the ground and the child would plunge into the lava. Viren picked up the albino infant, "That concludes our expedition for today. Let us head back." He ordered, returning on his horse with the pale child and returning to the kingdom of Katolis.
