Waves crash against the shore,

Look beneath the surface, you will find more.

There are many wonders held by the sea,

So why don’t you come take a look with me?

Deadly sharks circle from above,

While playful dolphins give you lots of love.

A turtle swims in pursuit of jelly fish,

And if you see a seahorse, don’t forget to make a wish.

Little fish are darting and jerking,

While leopard moray eels are lurking.

A whale rumbles in low moans,

And is answered in different tones.

Clicks and whistles of porpoises nearby,

And clouds of gannets fill the blue sky.

Now do you see what a beautiful place this can be?

But do not go yet, do not flee for there is more to this story you see.

Far out in the distance, a day or two away,

A human trawler slowly rolls into the bay.

Out of all the things in the sea, this is the worst by far,

It brings misery and destruction, don’t be such a galah!

A school of fish and with a swish

A marlin turns to swim.

He thinks he got away, no not yet,

He swam right into the trawlers net.

Throughout the din,

He tried to win.

But he was no match for it,

Seeing his lifeless body limp, the marine life began to fret.

SNAP! Went a piece of coral as it broke in half,

All the clownfish no longer did laugh.

Anemones and giant clams were smashed,

So to save themselves the fish dashed.

A whale and her baby start to dive,

But coming in faster another ship arrives.

It snatches up the mother and leaves the baby alone,

You hear its cries and depressing moans.

Rubbish and waste fling up from the sand,

All the marine life is in god’s hands.

Everything is quiet, the water turns red,

As freaky as it is, that is what I said.

Only you can make a difference.

If you want to shine,

Do it now, cause now is the time.

Or they will all be gone....forever.

What the trawlers left behind,

I definitely would not like to find.

Everything is bare,

They left nothing to spare.

Dolphin carcasses lay,

In the once beautiful bay.

All the creatures went,

With so many lives spent.

After a while,

The ground became fertile.

Coral spawn from a far away bay,

Drifted here and decided to stay.

Slowly the reef built itself back up again,

And the coral made lots of dens.

Look over there it’s a tiny yellow speck,

Look just beyond the coral reef wreck.

It’s a fish! It’s a fish!

And with a powerful swish.

It swims very near,

Just over here.

Followed by two eels,

And seven seals.

Then very soon,

You see a dolphin silhouetted against the moon.

Suddenly a whale emerges from below,

Its pace is reasonable, not too slow.

All the creatures move into their new home,

And graceful black manta rays start to roam.

The guard sharks are back,

And definitely not slack.

Everything is peaceful and calm at last,

All of that trauma is in the past.

Now that you have been to the sea with me,

The message, I hope, you are able to see.

Respect our abundant resources today,

For with our help they will be here to stay.
