Lunch was just as unbearable as classes were. Not only did Saithe usually sit with people who just used her, but the food was repulsive. On today's menu was what was supposed to be a quesadilla, beans, and rice. Meanwhile, it looked more like a sad tortilla with a little bit of shredded cheese, watered beans, and not fully cooked pale rice.
Saithe went to sit at her table after standing in line for the first part of lunch. Jupiter sat next to her, being the only one since she was on the end. The group conversated, laughing and gossiping. Saithe ate in silence and began to daydream.
It was almost like a memory, what she began to envision. Figures around a large marble table. There were six in total, each wearing a crown with unique differences. Two seemed to be arguing. "You're just begging for a war!" Cried a female. "It's the only way to slow what will eventually hit all of our lands." Replied a man. The bickering went on until one of the participants held up a hand and all went silent. "We must be united in our decision. Not only will it affect us now, but our future remnants will be influenced by our choices." Saithe recognized that voice, it was the lady from her dream. Before she could finish the scene, Saithe was shaken violently back into reality.
"What?" She asked, a little annoyed she was bothered. "I've been calling your name for the past ten minutes!" Jupiter exclaimed with a huff. Looking around, all the tables eyes were on her, meaning it must be true. "I was-" "Daydreaming? I figured." Jupiter cut her off. "But seriously, I wanted to ask you something." Her eyes glinted with curiosity. Saithe raised a brow and nodded. "Well...I just thought I'd ask if you have a crush on Rye since you two used to be really good friends." She smiled nervously. Everyone was listening to them. With a deep breath, saithe answered, "I have no interest in him. He deserted me for the likeness of others." She noticed Jupiter seemed relieved at that. "Go for him if you wish." Jupiter went went wide-eyed. "No way, I couldn't go up and talk to him." She was flustered and red. Saithe shrugged and looked away, she knew Jupiter would would pursue him no matter.

The end of the day finally rolled by with little to no rush. Saithe was almost to her car when she saw somebody leaning against it. Of course it was no other then Rye Bengi, her childhood friend and topic at lunch. He had strawberry blonde hair and brown eyes. Freckles dotted his face and he wore a hoodie with sweatpants. "Can I help you?" Saithe asked as she approached. He looked at her and quickly darted his eyes around to see if anyone was watching. "Yeah, lets talk." She nearly hurled her bag at him for him being embarrassed to be talking to her in public. Sighing she agreed. "Where exactly would you like to be discreet?" He stared at her. "Lets drive, my car is in the shop so you can give me a lift home." Saithe loved how he didn't even ask.
She got inside and started the car as he took the passenger seat. She knew where he lived so there was no need in giving directions. "So look, I get your friend Jupiter has a crush on me, but I'm not interested." He stated immediately. She gave him a stare and was silent for a couple of seconds. "So you mean to tell me this was your big discussion? You think I can control who she does and doesn't like?" Saithe scoffed. "I know how it sounds ok." He ran a hand through his hair. "But you can influence her. Just make her..not like me." Rye said as if it was easy. "It's her choice to, I won't get in between that." She glanced at him and added, "For anyone." He sighed and looked out the window. "Yeah, alright." He mumbled and went silent.
The ride was awkward after that, Saithe could feel the tension, but she didn't fix it. Pulling up to his house, she stopped. "Alright, here we are." She said. He nodded and grabbed his bag. Before he opened his door, he hesitated. "Do you hate me for distancing myself from you?" He asked and turned to look at her. She met his eyes. "At the time it hurt. Now? I just think you're a coward for letting them make you change." Rye flinched at her words, but they both knew she wasn't lying. "I'm sorry." He mumbled. Saithe looked away. "Goodnight Rye." He nodded and got out, leaving her to contemplate their conversation.
Authors note: Sorry for the shorter chapter! I'm trying to build up some plot and I have the lack of ideas and motivation currently.
