The twins faced each other dangerously, both of them holding their precious swords in front of them. They were both here for other reasons, but in the moment when their gazes meet, the reason was forgotten and only their rivalry was apparent. Sofia walked over next to Dante, her mother's sword in one hand, her own in the other. Her father held his sleeping grandson with one arm, the other rested on a gun, his fingers dancing over the trigger. The last man in the room looked at the girl, they could take her, and her blood was purer. He stepped closer to his master, wishing to impart this information.

"We do not need the boy. We can take her."

"Over my dead body."

Dante stepped protectively in front of Sofia, as his brother's gaze flickered on to her. Not another sound of movement was heard until a door slammed shut. The two demons looked around, noticing the absence of the old man and the young boy. Sofia did not take her eyes from Dante's twin. It was not out of choice, he intrigued her, she was fighting with her mind to focus on killing him, yet her mind was only focussed on watching him as he stood proudly and strongly across from her and Dante.

She knew her son was safe, she had heard as Vergil told his partner to ask him in, she had told her father to leave with her son as soon as he saw the chance. Vergil would go no further, yet neither did she want him to go away. She re-sheathed her katana and stood next to Dante, placing on arm around his waist but inside his jacket. She pulled out one of his holstered guns and shot, distorting her thoughts of Vergil that were in her mind.

The blue-jacketed devil wasted no time raising his sword to block the bullet from hitting him. His gaze moved to his younger brother who had a light smirk on his face. Before he could understand why a searing heat went through him, the sizzling of his flesh was evident, and vile to smell. He looked down and saw the reflective metal edge of a sword protruding from his abdomen, laced with his blood.

It ripped out of his stomach and he turned seeing the girl, watching him. He smirked in reply to her rebellious gaze. For the second time today he tapped into his demonic power, his wound healing almost instantly. The girl's features twisted into a smirk as Vergil went to attack his brother who was approaching from behind. Although his wound was healed, he was in severe pain when he moved. He barely blocked his brother's attack before deciding to leave. It would be easier to come back for the boy or the girl when he was in no physically pain.

"Don't worry Dante, you'll get your chance to die soon. As will you and your son Sofia."

Then he dashed out of the house, meeting his human companion who had fled during the fight. The two intruders left the isolate place, knowing that they would meet the two hunters again. Vergil smirked to himself at the thought. He would like to meet her again.

The two hunters remained silent as they examined the spot in which the intruders had occupied. A chill ran through the girl's blood as she thought of Vergil's last words. It wasn't so much her death that she feared but rather the death of her son. She would not allow that to happen. She would give her life if it came as a last resort, but she would not allow her son to be harmed.

She darted out of the room after her father, the devil close to her. She had to see her son, had to hold him, just to check, just to make sure he was alive and safe. She found them not far down the passage, the old man watching as they advanced on him. He had heard the gunshot yet saw no visible wounds on either of the hunters. The boy lay crying in his shoulder, begging desperately to see he mother. The echo of the shot had raised the boy from his slumber and instilled a panicking fear in his heart.
