Detention (fluff-ish)

"Alright students, you may take out your quills and begin your quiz. I expect complete silence." Snape's drawling voice echoed around the potions classroom.

I had been quite prepared for the quiz, having studied with Hermione in the library for hours the other night. She wouldn't let me go back to my room until I had everything memorized.

Draco Malfoy, however, evidently was not. He sat to my right and, while everyone's quills were moving across their papers, Draco's had stopped moving the moment he finished writing his name. I was practically flying through the quiz until I caught sight of Draco craning his neck to get a better view of my paper in my periphery. Rolling my eyes, I scooted my paper another inch or two closer to him.

"Just don't make it too obvious." I whispered to him through the corner of my mouth.

He gave me a little smirk before he began to copy my answers down. Draco and I weren't exactly friends or anything, but if he failed, that would cost our house a few points. Plus, I'm sure he would've raised hell on me later on if I called him out for copying my answers.

We turned our quizzes in separately and Snape dismissed the class not long after. I got up and started packing my stuff back into my bag when Snape called,

"Malfoy, y/l/n, come see me in my office please."

I froze and looked at Draco, our eyes met for a second before he quickly looked away. While just about everyone had left, him and I followed Snape into his office. We sat down in two chairs across from Snape's desk. Having never been there, I took in my surroundings and wasn't surprised to see lots of shelves stacked with vials of potions and ingredients.

"Mr. Malfoy and Ms. Y/l/n, I've noticed your quizzes here have the exact. Same. Answers." Snape placed both papers on the desk in front of us.

"I would demand an explanation from the two of you, but it seems quite clear that Malfoy was copying from your paper, Ms. Y/l/n?"

Before I could reply, Snape added, "No offense, Mr. Malfoy, however you've never been a top student in my class. Whereas Ms. Y/l/n has almost always received top marks, therefore I can deduce that it was you who did the copying?"

"Yes, professor. But-" We answered in unison.

"Then it is settled, y/l/n, I expect you to guard your paper more carefully next time. Malfoy, I suggest you do your own studying from now on. I will see you both in detention on Saturday morning. Nine o'clock, my classroom."

"Yes professor." Draco and I get up from our chairs and exit Snape's office, heading down to the Slytherin common room.

"What the hell, Malfoy? I told you not to make it obvious!" I scolded him, punching him in the arm.

He shrugged, "Whoops, my bad. See you in detention, y/l/n." He smiled then headed off to join Crabbe and Goyle by the fireplace.

On Saturday morning, I go down to the great hall for breakfast and I start to head down to Snape's classroom around 5 minutes before 9:00. Draco is already there and is speaking with Snape.

"Ah, Ms. Y/l/n. Right on time."

"Professor." I nod my head towards him in greeting.

"Right, well my room has been in need of some deep cleaning as of late. I have other business to attend to, so I'll leave the two of you to it. Your wands, please." Snape holds out his hand to retrieve our wands.

"What? Why do you need our wands?" Draco asks.

"So you don't use magic to get the cleaning done. This is detention, not cleaning spell practice. I expect the room to be acceptable by the time I get back around noon."
