Birds were chirping happily outside. I could smell the fresh country side air and a warm breeze brushed my face. My dark brown eyes opened to see nothing but darkness. I always kept my room that way. Dark, with the blinds shut to keep out the light but the windows open to let in the cool air. I yawned as my body stretched itself.
Lazily I got up and cleaned my bed before heading out to take an early shower. It was Saturday, today.
After my morning shower, I went to prepare breakfast for my grandparents. My grandfather was sick and my grandmother was strong enough to care for herself. When I got to the kitchen, I found my grandma making breakfast.
"Arisu? What are you doing out of bed?" She asked.
"Hm? I'm coming to do my chores. It's Saturday,"I replied.
"But you were sick for the past four days,"she said as she pushed me back to my room.
"Rest for now, the doctor will come soon to check on you. I hope you're feeling well,"she said with a concerned look on her face before closing my door.
I stared at the darkness in my room as I thought about what she had said.
"But you were sick for the past four days,"
Her words echoed though my mind as I tried to make sense of what was going on. When was I sick? I didn't feel any pain in my body though. As I tried to remember, I subconsciously touched my left arm. That was when I remembered what had happened ever since I moved in with my grandparents. I pulled the blinds of my room to let the light in. My left arm was pale as always but there was something missing. It was a bite mark. That's what's missing.
I suddenly remembered what had happened as images flashed through my mind.
"Am I dead?"I asked myself.
