Kite stifled a cry of pain as his life points drained away. He had been training Rio and hadn't summoned one monster or played any spells or traps. He didn't lose that easily.
"For goodness sake, Rio..." He panted, collapsing to the ground with fatigue, "I knew you were an "Ice Queen", but... ouch."
Rio laughed a bit at first, but then realised that Kite was actually beginning to lose consciousness.
"Oh no..." Rio ran over and knelt down beside her friend, one of her best friends talking way too fast in her panic.
"Kite no please you can't be hurt you can be hurt you can't be hurt because of me! Kite! Wake up!" Rio pleaded, shaking him.
Kite grumbled in his sleep and shifted a bit in her arms, but didn't wake up.
"Oh, come on! Please?" Her panic was wearing off gradually, as she could see that Kite wasn't really hurt but in shock at most. Now she was only thinking about two things. 1. She was annoyed at him for passing out and scaring her. 2. She was admiring how cute he was in his sleep.
"Aw..." Rio whispered, watching how peaceful he looked, this was rare for him.
She sat there, Kite in her arms, staring at him.
"Ugh, why do you have to be so cute?"
She couldn't resist. He was too adorable. And, anyway, it's not like he would know or she was going to do this when he awakened. Watching Kite's eyes in case he woke up, Rio slowly leaned in and kissed him. It was very fast and very light, but it sent her heart racing. Rio decided to pull back quickly, while she still could. But just as she started to pull back, she felt Kite start to kiss her back! Now Rio definitely couldn't pull away.
Ohmygodohmygodhelphowisthishappening?!' Rio's brain was going into overdrive. When she eventually pulled back, needing air, she accidently burst out.
"Kite! What the hell?!"
Kite, to her immense anger, was smirking. "Knew you liked me." He said, sitting up.
"But-I-you-what-the- you were unconscious!" Rio spluttered.
"Pfft, no I wasn't. I wouldn't pass out from not actually even losing a duel, what do you take me for? I was just pretending."
Rio's eyes widened. "WHY?! Why would you DO that?!"
Kite rolled his eyes. "To see what you'd do." He said, as if it was obvious. "And I have to say, I wasn't disappointed." He added with a smirk and wink.
"You... You little... So that was, what, just some joke to you?" Rio stood up to leave, tears about to form in her eyes. She blinked them away impatiently.
Kite's eyes widened in shock. "No - no, no, - Rio - wait! I never said -"
"Save it!" Rio felt so hurt and used - she didn't think Kite was like that... After he had even helped her train... Rio stormed off with Kite right behind her.
"Rio! Wait! Listen to me! Remember, I was just helping you train! I didn't mean -"
"Didn't mean WHAT, exactly? Didn't mean to get my hopes up? Didn't mean to ruin everything?!" Rio cried out.
Kite looked confused. "I didn't mean to be all cocky like that! I just - I couldn't believe, uh, that you actually liked me like that!"
Rio wanted desperately to trust him, but she still felt so used. What if he'd just been playing her? But then again, he had saved her life. More than once. She had to give him a chance... right?
"Prove it." Rio finally said.
"What?"
"Prove that you're serious. Prove that I can trust you." Rio replied without missing a beat and crossing her arms.
Kite sighed sadly, running a hand over his face and looking Rio in the eyes.
"Rio. You know how few people I care about. You know how few people I open up to, and let into my life. I would never, ever pretend to care about someone. I swear I'll never hurt you and I never have so far. Please give me a chance?"
Rio kept her arms crossed. "...I still hate you."
Kite smiled. "Yeah, well, I think I can change that."
"Try me." Rio huffed.
As Kite went to kiss her again, the two had no idea that Hart was standing nearby camera in hand.
"Ooh, I'm going to show this at their wedding..." he said deviously, running away quickly to tell the others.
