Chapter 1
Fire. All I could see was fire and darkness. Harper. My name was whispered in the shadows. Suddenly a force shook my body and pulled me out of mysterious surroundings into light.
"Get up!" the squeaky voice of a 9 year old begged as he attempted to shake my shoulders. I groaned and opened my eyes to meet ones of pure ocean blue. The child screamed happily and gave me a sloppy, wet kiss on my cheek.
I lifted him off my stomach and placed him beside me. I sat up and stretched my arms. "Toby, out of my room." I shooed him and got up. I dressed myself in some casual gear and braced myself to the chaos that was outside my save haven, also known as my bedroom.
Opening the door a scream shook the house of one of my many younger siblings. A groan came from beside me. I turned to see Gabriel, my older brother looking at the messy hallway.
"Holy shit." he said and gently shoved me in the shoulder as began his treacherous walk down the hallway. I slightly chuckled and began to follow him down the hall towards the kitchen. As we reached the end of the mess an aroma of pancakes snaked up our noses. I could see Gabriel smiling with delight as he began to jog into the kitchen. I followed and entered the main room of chaos. Pancakes were everywhere. On the counter, the table and on the floor. Gabriel scoffed and grabbed a plate off the bench top.
"Morning you two." Mother said cheerfully as she dished out the last two pancakes onto a plate for me.
