Mias POV:
I took a seat to the side of the conference audience, away from all of the reporters and cameras. I enjoyed the idea of being able to watch without filming for once, but still decided to get little clips for my vlog.

'We'll start with McLaren. Lando, it seemed to be a slightly frustrating day for the both of your drivers today. How are you feeling ahead of the race?' A reporter asked.

'It's obviously not how anyone wants to start the first race of the year but we're still learning how we can improve our car to make sure we're ontop of everything. Midfields gonna be tight this year so we've got to make sure we're ready.' He said, nicely avoiding the majority of his question.

'And Max. Do you still feel like you have to prove something due to all of the controversy? Despite being world champion?'

'No. As you said, I've won two titles, and the most wins, pole's and laps led, which most people forget. I don't need to prove anything.' He said, making me smile.

'And Charles, this is the first year we've seen you without a girlfriend. Do you think that'll better your performance?'

I frowned, thinking back to our conversation on the plane where he'd told me he'd never dated. His eyes met mine briefly, but I looked away, still thinking over what he'd told me.

'I would uh, just like to clear up that I have never been in a relationship, but yes, I do think it'll be better on me this year to have less of a distraction.' He spoke.

'You officially posted a statement about your breakup with Layla. Doesn't that suggest that you were in a romantic relationship?' He pushed.

'Next question.'

I ran my tongue along the inside of my mouth, looking down at my phone now. I was bored of listening to what he had to say, but didn't want to get up and leave.

The rest of the conference droned on, and I barely listened. The only words I heard were the final goodbyes, and the screeching of chairs pushing backwards, letting me know I could go too.

I'd never heard of Layla, nor had I ever seen her around any other year, but I guess I'd never been looking at Charles. And now I was, I was mad he'd lied to me, no matter how small.

Lando saw the look on my face and threw me his keys, telling me he'd not be long and that I should wait in the car. I hurried off, making sure to force myself into the crowd to hide myself.

Once I made it to the carpark I climbed into the back and locked the door. The back windows were tinted and I didn't want anyone to come and attempt conversation with me. I was on my phone when I heard footsteps approaching, assuming it was Lando I looked up.

It wasn't Lando.

'Fuck.' I mumbled, slowly getting down from the backseat and sitting on the floor, so I was out of sight completely. I heard him come up to the car and look through the windows, mumbling to himself when he couldn't see where I was.

'Have you seen her, Lando?' Charles asked.

Shit. Lando was here. He was gonna try and get into his car, and he'd not be able to, because I had the keys.

'Yeah, she went to go and see Lewis.' He responded, without missing a beat.

'Why Lewis?' Charles frowned.

'I dunno, man. They're pretty good friends.' He shrugged.

'Yeah, right. Where's Lewis?' He asked.

'At the paddock.' Lando responded.
