Bound to fall - Chpt 1: A taunting memory

Dazai's eyes slowly open and he stares at the ceiling for a little while. His phone buzzes and he glances over at it, after noticing it was a message he reluctantly reaches for it.

The message was from Kunikida and it read:

Kunikida

Dazai, are you awake yet? You
have less than thirty minutes to get
yourself here. If you are late again
today I'll be assigning you extra work!

But Kunikida~

Get up and get ready! This is
not up for negotiation, you have 25
minutes!

Dazai let's out an aggravated sigh before sitting up.
"Damnit, I can't afford to be late I guess."

He sighs once more before getting up to get ready, he then gets his usual outfit on and changing out his bandages.

Dazai walks into his bathroom and rinses his face off before looking up at the mirror. He stares at his reflection with a hateful gaze.

He then makes his way to the door as his phone buzzes again.

Kunikida

Make sure you eat something aswell I don't want you hendering anyone while on a mission.

Alright I'm heading to the kitchen now.

He laughs slightly knowing this is just Kunikida checking up on him. Kunikida calls and messages him multiple times a day reminding him to take care of himself.

Dazai walks into the kitchen and glances in his fridge before shrugging his shoulders and walking out the door.

As Dazai arrives at the agency and walks in the door he's greeted by Atsushi.

Atsushi happily runs over to Dazai and then slows down a bit, his expression changes and he looks concerned.
"Have you been taking care of yourself!? You have bags under your eyes and you're pale!"

Kunikida hears this and immediately stands up walking over to Dazai with an aggravated expression.
"Dazai! I've reminded you countless times to take care of yourself! I took time out of my schedule to make sure you've taken care of yourself!!"

Dazai puts his hands up in an exaggerated manner and has his usual smile on his face.
"Kunikida I have been, I was feeling a little sick is all!"

Dazai is more than obviously lying but he doesn't really care to hear Kunikida lecture him.

Kunikida pushes his glasses up and checks his watch.
"It's 7:38am! You were supposed to be here no later than 7:30am and yet you arrive nearly ten minutes late!? I even went out of my way to remind you and you still failed to comply!"

Dazai sighs the last thing he cares to hear is Kunikida yelling.
"I'm sorry~ I haven't been feeling well I probably have a cold of some sort."

Atsushi looked even more worried.
"Mr Dazai you probably should have called in sick."

Dazai shrugged his shoulders and slipped past the two of them before sitting back in his desk.
"No need I'll be alright."

Kunikida and Atsushi walk back to their desks and start finishing some work. Dazai however had his head laying on the table and he was trying to sleep.

Kunikida noticed him and immediately began yelling.
"Dazai you're wasting bandages and space! If you're sick then go home, however if you're staying here you need to do some work!"

Dazai opened his eyes and looked at Kunikida.
"You know Kunikida yelling at someone when they're sick makes the symptoms worse."

Kunikida brought out a notebook and began writing.
"It does? Well then I'll have to make sure to avoid doing tha-"

Dazai waits for him to finish writing before speaking.
"I'm messing with you."

Kunikida's pen breaks and he shouts.
"Dazai!"

Dazai put a hand over his ears his voice is as dramatic as usual.
"Well it wasn't a complete lie, you're making my headache worse~"

Atsushi looks over to the two of them.
"Mr Dazai you can go home, I'll do some of your work for you while you're gone."

Dazai opens his eyes again.
"Do I have to~?"

Kunikida stands up and practically drags Dazai out of the building.
"Yes you do! You're only making it more difficult for us to get our work done. Though that's no different than usual I actually have a reason to make you leave. Now go home and take a nap or something, a bed is more comfortable than a desk anyways."

Dazai sighs and reluctantly begins walking to his house thinking to himself along the way.
(Man why do I have to walk all the way home.)

Dazai arrives home and begins stumbling to his bed before flopping down on it.
"I'm so tired-"

Dazai has an overwhelming feeling of sadness. However he is unable to pinpoint exactly why that is.

Dazai opened his phone to check the time, he took a glance at the date and it hit him. It was the day he had originally met Chuuya.
