I sat nervously on the train, the barren fields passing by. My hometown faded into the distance. I didn't know where exactly I was going. Just as long as it was away.
I felt my stomach rumble with the engine as it slowed down to its next stop. I was now miles from home. I stepped off the steps and onto the platform. I found a restaurant and bar at the station and ordered a meal.
Once I finished with my food I clumsily reached for my coin purse. The coins spilled out onto the wooden planks of the floor. I reached over hurriedly when a hand touched mine. A man smiled up at me. He was a tall, charming looking man with cunning in his silver-green eyes. He gathered the fallen coins off the ground. I was frozen as he took my hand and placed the coins back into my hand. They were warm and soft, gentle for such a man with such an intimidating appearance. He looked up to the waiter and handed him a silver dollar coin.
"For the young lady's meal," he said in a deep, handsome voice, "keep the change."
I gave him my best smile for his courteous deed. It like he could read my mind because he asked,
"Are you alright?"
I nodded. He knew something was troubling me.
"Can I get you a drink?"
There was a growing sense of urgency that grew in my stomach. I needed to stay with him. If I said no, I may lose him forever.
That would be it. I'd never see him again.
I couldn't do that. I needed him.
"Yes," I said a little louder than I meant to, "please."
He took my hand, leading me to his table. I noticed the empty seat at his table for two. He mustn't had a girlfriend. I took the seat as he ordered us drinks. Two beers. I drank slowly and gratefully. I hadn't been planning on any alcoholic refreshments on this journey. I had to ration my money until I could find a place to settle down and get a job.
I set my glass down gently on the table and allowed myself another glance at his beautiful ocean-colored eyes.
"Do you feel better?" He asked.
I smiled,

"I feel fine."
