It could've been an evening filled with joy and celebration. Bright and warm lights poured from the chandelier embossed on the mansion ceiling like regal jewels on a woman's neck, basking the area in rich shades of yellow and gold. Gentle music neutralized the soft murmurs of visitors wearing suits and dresses made with the finest of fabrics and fashioned by the most proficient of tailors. Tables were adorned with flavorful cuisines only individuals born with blue blood are allowed to taste. The wine was exquisite, the meat was of the highest quality, and the silverware was ensured to replicate the beam of a precious gem.

The daughter of the (L/N) family, dressed in extravagant garments akin to that of royal blood, you were celebrating your eighteenth birthday in a once in a lifetime coming of age ceremony. Your outfit seemingly heavy for your youthful physique, with red fabrics boasting the maturity of a young adult, golden threads embroidering beads on the surface of your corset, and cream-colored frills lining the seams of your gown and neckline, you were formally crowned as the heiress who will sustain the honor of your noble family.

"To Lady (Y/N)!" a voice declared a toast from the crowd of guests. Roars of applause complemented the clanking noises of champagne glasses ringing like church bells tolling in response to the prayers of the poor. Smiles filled with factitious glee commemorated your formal entrance to the world of adulthood. Countless hands tried to hold your palms as if devotees aiming to have the blessed touch of their god, only to be blocked by the very man who was tasked to ensure your safety.

"I'm afraid what you're doing is overstepping the boundaries of my lady. You are making her uncomfortable," your personal servant spoke in a calm yet strong manner against the people standing before you. A man of age, most likely in his early fifties, with wrinkles beginning to grow on his cheeks and forehead, and hair almost developing the color of old ash. Visitors had frequently mistaken him for the household butler, as many servants address him in a way befitting of one, accompanied by his senior age commonly characterizing a chief manservant, but his occupation is limited to being in service of you.

It could've been an evening filled with joy and celebration, if not only for the voices seeping through your ears like the venom of a desert snake. It was scorching you from within, knowing none of these noble and aristocratic visitors held the slightest genuine compliments for you. They're power-hungry beasts aiming for the biggest fish in the pond: a bountiful business partnership with the owner of the country's largest mining company, if not to defeat the formidable business rival.

It could've been an evening filled with joy and celebration...

The sound of gunshot erupted like fireworks in the night sky, initially destroying parts of the chandelier to sharp yet beautiful shards of glass. Screams of terror enveloped the venue as guests quickly dispersed to the mansion's main entrance with the attempts to save their own skin. Mansion maids and servants whose sole job is to tidy after the soiled heels of the high class carried themselves to the safety of the pantry. Your mother screamed your name with an expression filled with horror as you stood atop the grand staircase of the expensive place you called your home, frozen with fear over the gun aimed directly at your chest from a twenty-meter distance.

"Lady (Y/N)!" The floor began to put a good distance between you and the soles of your shoes when Mr. Winston swiftly pulled you onto his shoulders.

From the floor below were three men holding what seems to be guns commonly owned by those who are members of nobility. Dressed in rich, gallant dress suits, the crest pinned to their left chest displayed an engraved image of a black bird's head - the emblem of the aristocratic family of Ravenhurst.

The family name of the Ravenhursts presented itself to you multiple times during the duration of your father tutoring you about the many business matters you're required to attend to as the future head of your household. The Ravenhurst family is a lesser known participant in the field of textile business as they are simply known to be one of the many distributors of fabrics used to tailor the outfits of theater actors and actresses. Their business reputation is not as recognizable as that of the (L/N) family.
