"Aaaaaaarrrghh" I screamed as I awoke from my terrible nightmare at 2:00 in the afternoon, in history class.
"So glad you've joined us" Madam Helena, my skinny, tall and foreign teacher said with what looked like a sarcastic face.
"I'm so sorry, yesterday my little brother...." I was saying before she cut me off by saying "I don't recall asking for your life story miss Lenard"
"Oh" I said whilst wiping drool off my face with my wrist.
"As I was saying" she continued
"there is going be a talent show, I don't know why but the school board believes some of you have wonderful talents that are yet to be discovered"
I dont remember the other things she said because I had already started fantasizing about all the limitless possibilities that could come of this event.
"The theme is going to be masquerade" she said as everyone begun to murmur whilst wondering why a talent show should have a theme.
"Lydia" I heard someone whisper from behind me.
"Yeah?" I responded as I turned around to see Zack, the tall, handsome, and charming basketball player sitting two sits behind me (he wasn't the captain of the team but he always seemed to steal everyone's attention at every game.)
"A masked talent show, isn't that a crazy idea?" He said
I gave a quick shrug in response
"I was thinking of doing some of the basketball tricks I just learnt"
"Cool" I said trying to show as much enthusiasm as I could.
"So what are you gonna do?" He asked
"Umm..I don't think I'm gonna go" I said knowing very well that I wouldn't miss it for the world.
"Why not??" He said
I smiled because that was the only reason why I said I wasn't going, to continue the conversation.
"I like my talents undiscovered" I said
"Wow" he said
"I never knew you were so down to earth"
I remained speechless until I was saved by the bell.*in the hallway*
I was on my way to the parking lot when...
"Sup black girl" my crazy, crazy and one more thing, crazy best friend Dylan said whilst jumping on my back like a 5 year old who wants a piggyback ride.
"Black girl?....racist much?" I said with what I hoped was a funny yet annoying tone.
"How can I be a racist to you when we are the same race?" He said with an adorable grin. (never would have admitted that to him)
"Shut up fish face" I said with a face full of smiles
Everything was cool as we continued our walk to the parking lot until...
"Hey baby" Dylan's annoying girlfriend Annelise said as she forced her way beside Dylan by pushing me to the wall.
"Hey" he responded as he kissed her on the cheek.
Like a doll in one of the Barbie princess movies, Annelise, whilst tiptoeing, whispered something into Dylan's ear and there it was:
"Oh my gosh, I'll see you later Lydia, I gotta do something with Annelise "Normally I'd pay someone to keep Dylan away from me, but the fact that he left for that brat kinda hurt. she already ruined my afternoon but that wasn't enough, she just had to make me walk alone like a lonely freak, all the way to the parking lot.
On my way to the parking lot with a face filled with melancholy, I regained my happiness when I remembered there was still one person who wasn't dedicated to making sad.*one car ride later*
"Tia!!" I yelled as I jumped on my other best friend's bed
"If I knew you'd miss me so much, I would have taken a sick day long ago" she said whilst taking a long sip from her soup bowl.
