Chapter 1: Pain.
Disclaimer: I do NOT own Naruto. Naruto is the work of Masashi Kishimoto.

Author's Note: Hello Enders! This is a quick story that I'll be releasing along with my other work, I hope you enjoy it!

During Pain's attack, the village was destroyed.

I did my best to repel Pain's Six Paths of Pain.

After defeating the Naraka Path, the Animal Path, the Preta Path, the Human Path, and the Asura Path, all I had to do was defeat the Deva Path, and Pain's threat would be dealt with.

"Give up. Struggling is futile, Kyuubi Jinchuuriki."

"Shut up!"

That's right. I'm still fighting the Deva Path of Pain.

"Why do you struggle so much? In front of absolute might, everything is useless. Just like how a mortal cannot rebel against the gods."

"Shut up, shut up, shut up! JUST SHUT UP!"

My chakra is exhausted. The two great toad sages of Mount Myoboku are dead. Kakashi sensei is dead. Grandma Tsunade is dying. The village is destroyed... barely anyone survived the initial attack of Pain.

"I'll make you pay!"

Helpless, I could only grit my teeth and curse Pain with all my might. My sage mode had long since ran out. Only the fox...

'No, not the fox! I'll never reach out to the fox ever again!'

Steeling my resolve, I glared at Pain with all my might. I wanted to fight him in pure taijutsu, even if it's meaningless. Even if my taijutsu is horrendous, I wanted to struggle until the bitter end.

Perhaps seeing my resolve, the Deva Path narrowed his eyes and reached his hand out to somewhere.

"Fine. If you're so stubborn, then I'll show you pain!"

"Bansho Ten'in!"

Feeling a bad premonition in my heart, I looked toward where the Deva Path pointed his palm. Sure enough, I saw someone flying toward the Deva Path's palm. She had long, dark-blue hair and pale lavender eyes. Seeing her, my heart stopped beating. For a moment, our eyes met.

Smile.

She smiled. It was a smile full of sorrow and guilt. Perhaps she knew what was about to happen, tears formed around her delicate eyes. Then, her mouth moved.

'I'll always love you, Naruto.'

Reading her lip movement, I froze. Every strand of hair in my body stood up as if a thunderbolt struck me. Then, like under some sort of demonic art, my body moved on its own.

Thud—thud—thud—thud—thud—

I never ran so fast in my entire life, this was the first time. My chest hurt, and I couldn't breathe, but I kept running. My heart should be racing, but somehow I couldn't hear my heartbeat. I thought my heart had truly stopped beating.

Right now, the only person in my eyes was the long-haired girl that was in mid-air, flying toward the Deva Path's hand.

'Please!'

I prayed. I prayed and wished that I was stronger. That I had trained harder when I was young. I regretted wasting my time doing goofy things when I was a child. I regret... that I never appreciated the feelings of someone. I regret... realizing too late that someone had cared for me... since the beginning.

"HINATA!"

Thwick—!

Time stopped. Then, a large amount of scarlet liquid sprayed as a black metal rod penetrated Hinata's heart.
