Liam and I are at school, in our first class to be exact, and we are just having a regular conversation with one another. I spot a classmate glaring at us, she has this hateful look in her eyes, and it is making me genuinely uncomfortable. She has been looking at us like that for quite some time now, and I have mentioned it to Liam, although he tells me that she most likely thinks that "you are really pretty and she's just jealous of you." That I don't have to worry about anything, he'd protect me if anything were to go south.
I want to trust him. But something feels off.
*hours later*
We were done for the day, and I am waiting for Liam to finish using the restroom. I am standing outside the restrooms just minding my business, when I hear someone creep up behind me.
"Hey." A voice calls out. I bolt at the sound.
It's that girl that makes me uncomfortable.
"Hi, uhh, do I know you?" I play dumb.
"Yes, silly. I have you for my first class."
"Oh," I hesitate. "That's right. What's your name?" I ask. I actually do not know what her name is.
"Miranda. And you are Britney, right?"
"Yes, I did not expect you to know my name."
"You're Liam's girlfriend, right?" She completely ignores my statement.
"Yeah, we are in a happy and healthy relationship. Why?" I actually want to know her intention behind her asking me and then constantly staring at me in our class.
"Oh it's just because I think the two of you look kind of ridiculous together. I mean, like, Liam is very good-looking, smart, funny, and you are, well, you."
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I ask, a little offended at this point.
"Oh no nothing. I just don't see any good qualities in you, that is all." She mentions boldly.
"That is a little rude, don't you think? How would you like it if I came up to you and told you a similar thing?"
"I actually, do not care."
"Do you like my boyfriend?" I use the word boyfriend instead of Liam's name so she can get heated up.
"Huh?"
"You heard me. Do you like Liam? Like, as in a crush?"
"He's alright."
"Oh yeah. So right now you were just mentioning all of those nice things about him and now you want to cover up your crushing on him. Very smooth, Miranda. I'm not stupid. I catch you glaring us down from your seat in class all of the damn time. You have this vicious look to you, its very uncomfortable and now that we are talking I advise you to quit it. It's annoying."
"But I wouldn't eve dare looking into your direc-" I cut her off.
"No, save it. And stop it. It's getting on my last nerve. I had to tell Liam about how its making me feel that you are constantly staring at me and he has to comfort and reassure me that you wont do anything to me. Or better yet, if you do, he wont allow me to get hurt. So stop with the staring and get a life, you freak. Leave Liam and I alone."
Miranda has a few tears welled up at this point, and she opens her hateful mouth once again. "Oh so what, as if there is anything good to look at anyways. Just know that maybe Liam wont always be there to protect you. It's not always possible and maybe you might get badly hurt." She starts walking away immediately.
"Was that a threat?" I shout but she doesn't answer me. She does not even acknowledge it by looking back at me. She just continues forward.
I huff and I return to the way I was originally standing, with my back against the hall. Which was probably a bad idea since she comes running back towards me and tries to smack me. I bolt into the men's restroom. "LIAM!" I shout for my boy.
