Once there was a young boy who always believed in magical things,

And always saw what wonder brings.

He saw the bright side in most days,

And believed magic worked in mysterious ways.

He was 9 years old,

And he TRIED to always do what he was told.

But he wanted to learn how to do magic right!

Even when his mum tried to tuck him in at night!

He never gave up, he always believed,

That all his dreams he could achieve.

His mum told him that practice he should,

And just like that practice he would.

His mum believed in her son,

Even if she felt like bad things always won.

She always tried to do her best,

But she sometimes felt like she wasn't like the rest.

This little boy could see,

That his mum needed magic more than he.

His mum was the best and he wanted her to know,

That he would love her no matter where in the world he would go.

She always smiled and was happy with her son,

She just wanted to give him the best like everyone.

Her little boy was planning in the night,

He would make everything right!

He collected small toys in all shapes he could find,

But he had one small toy in his mind.

His small pet raccoon, which he kept close by,

He believed it had luck in those small brown eyes.

He said the magic words which he learned by heart,

And hoped the raccoon would do his part.

"Abracadabra, I believe in you,

My mum needs you so she can believe too."

He looked at the raccoon but it didn't move, but he knew magic,

When ready, itself it would prove.

So with a smile and hope in his eyes,

He went to bed and dreamt of beautiful clear skies.

His mum was sound asleep,

The house was quiet, you couldn't hear a peep.

Her eyes opened just the same,

And she realized a sound in the kitchen was to blame.

She checked on the boy,

But he was sound asleep with a toy.

So she went in the kitchen to check this sound,

And she was amazed at what she had found!

A small raccoon, not bigger than a tea cup,

On the kitchen counter trying to get itself up.

I'm sorry for the noise!" the little thing said,

"I didn't mean to get you out of bed."

The mother couldn't understand what it is she could see,

But there is was as clearly as can be.

"I'm a raccoon from your son's collection,

He is learning magic to perfection!"

"He wanted me here so I can tell you,

That you are great at what you do.

He wants you to know, he wants you see,

That you're the best mum that you could ever be.

"The mother couldn't speak, she was amazed at what her son could do,

And she knew if she was brave, she could do great things too.

She thanked the little raccoon and patted him on the head,

And with that they both went to bed.

Morning came with beautiful skies that were blue,

And the sun came shining too.

The little boy ran as fast as he could,

If his magic didn't work, try again he would.

His mum picked him up and kissed his face,

He hugged her tight and could feel her heart race.

She said she met his raccoon in the night,

And he made everything just right.

His magic had worked and he knew he had achieved!

And his mum knew they would do anything together,

If they just believed.
