Just Enemies (Original Story)

Rally.

Katarina had rushed to the school eager to save her little sister. She knew there was some bullying but not to this extent. This was assault and she ran in and went straight for the nurses office and there she saw her lil'sis curled up under the sheet.

"Hey squirt..."

"Kat!."

Lena rushed into her arms and the hot tears just poured down her cheeks. Kat cried alongside her but told her they had to leave and get her out of this place. Kat was allowed to leave school early and at home Lena was mute but Kat didn't want to force the issue so she chose to distract her little sister.

"I just bought Tekken 6 today! Wanna play."

Lena didn't budge but Kat set up the PS2 and put in the game. Seeing that Sony logo flash with the title cards did make Lena turn toward the tv. Then Kat moved the controller for player two toward her little sister and Lena picked it up and they did versus. Kat let Lena chose Christie Monteiro and Kat picked Nina Williams. They played to their hearts content and Lena was laughing. She was safe in that moment but both of their parents showed up with angry and concerned faces. They came together and their dad Viktor wanted names of each boy while Ana inspected Lena's back for bruising. Kat calmed them both down and said that they all needed to breathe.

"Do you wanna talk about...what happened."

"Can we just play Tekken...please."

"Okay..."

And about three hours passed and they did everything from story mode to versus with snack and washroom breaks in between. Kat wanted her sister to really open up but didn't want to force her to but maybe that would help. Kat was frustrated with being not just the sister but the parent. She did it for Lena who needed her and when Lena came back from the bathroom and plopped down. Round ten started and as soon as Katherina checked the digital clock she saw it was the evening. Both their parents passed out on the couch with the lights on. Wanting to talk. Kat saw Lena didn't so.

"Wanna go to the mall?."

"Why?."

"Fresh air?."

"I...."

Lena was terrified she would run into the boys from school. They were suspended with the principal calling Lena's home to inform her parents. But maybe the mall on the mountain would be safe so she asked Kat if she was ok with a far off drive and Kat said sure as long as Lena bought coffee.

They hopped in Kats golden sun fire Pontiac and yes it was a little old but it was reliable and everything works perfectly fine. Kat kept it so clean and it always smelled like lilies with the air freshener hanging on the mirror. Lena waited and station 99.9 came on and she listened to todays greatest hits as the disc jockey announced.

They played beautiful liar with Beyoncé and Shakira,umbrella by Rihanna, Apologize by one republic. Some amazing music and when they arrived at SquareOne in Mississauga. Lena was sure she wouldn't run into anyone and sure enough she hadn't and her and Kat bought some poutine and checked out American eagle because Kat wanted to buy some jeans but Lena sat outside because she didn't feel comfortable going inside.

A few minutes later and Kat asked Lena where she would like to go and she asked to check out Indigo and hot topic. Kat agreed and Lena bought this cute death note tshirt and also a sailor moon manga at indigo.

Lena felt slightly better and once they got some frozen yogurt and some coffee. They decided to go home and once at home Lena saw her mom at the door and she came up and hugged her. She couldn't believe this had happened and she asked repeatedly what she could do and even baked fresh chocolate chip cookies for Lena. Lena just needed this she had told her mom and looked at her and her sister and said that this support meant everything. Viktor also said he helped in making the cookies and could he have a hug so she hugged her dad.

They had this big group hug and Lena cried and said she was terrified and didn't know what to do so her mom broached the subject of getting a therapist. Lena wasn't sure and told her mom she wanted her and Kat to know and not a stranger.

Lena's mom smiled and said she would take that for now and lena said she was going to turn in early and went to brush her teeth. Kat told her mom how the therapy was a good idea but to try a less sensitive time. Ana told her she understood that it wasn't the best time but that Lena needed someone who could help her process what these kids are doing.

Kat told her mom that she wasn't disagreeing but that this should wait to which her mom told her that she is still the mom here. Kat got a bit angry because of how much she was also the parent to her little sister these days.

Kat went off to her room and got ready for bed feeling completely helpless. Angry and burnt out. Kat needed her too but like most other days she would have to be there for herself and for Lena.
