you fall asleep on her

The feeling of Cari's fingers running through your hair as you rested your head on her lap made your eyes slip shut.

You just arrived home from a tiring day and you can feel it all catching up to you now.

Cari had been so wonderful to you by making your favorite meal for you and now, you're curled up on the sofa with your favorite show playing.

As much as you love it, you know you won't make it through this entire episode as you're bound to drift off to sleep soon.

Cari's staring down at you lovingly, watching as you try hard to keep your eyes open.

As soon as they closed, you opened them again, only for them to close again as she leaned down and gave you a soft kiss on your head.

"My sweet girl, if you're tired you can fall asleep."

"I'm okay." You said.

"You had a long day, baby. It's alright if you're tired and need a little rest."

"I'm not tired."

She chuckled as her nails gently brushed against your scalp.

"Then why are your eyes closed?" She teased.

"I'm just resting them."

She shook her head with a smile and continued to gaze at you adoringly.

"No, you're sleepy, and that's perfectly okay. You can fall asleep. I can carry you to bed in a while if you sleep that long."

You shifted around a little but kept your head on her lap and she continued to play with your hair and scratch your head, knowing it made you feel content.

"You're my whole world." She whispered. "And I just love you so much."

"I love you too." You sleepily spoke.

She could tell from your voice that you were falling asleep but she didn't mind at all.

It just made her smile that you were so cozy with her that you'd just fall asleep right there on her lap.

It warmed her heart.

She listened to the breaths that left your lips and watched you fall asleep, so content with her that you couldn't help but relax.

"Are you sleeping?" She asked a moment later.

And when she got only silence in response, she knew you'd fallen fast asleep.

"There we go, darling. Sleep tight and have sweet dreams." She said as she leaned down again to kiss your head. "I love you more than anything in the world."

She kept playing with your hair and rather than watching the show on tv, she just watched you sleep.

It was a precious sight and made her smile from ear to ear.

She just hoped you'd get the rest you deserve and have only sweet dreams.
