English isn't my first language so I apologize for any mistake I made, don't hesitate to correct me :)

This globally follows the canon line, but after Neteyam's death is only my imagination and has nothing to do with what might happen in Avatar 3.

Please note that they are NOT aged up so the only "smut" scene is a soft and 15 years old-friendly one.

Some vocabulary in case it's needed:

Skxawng : Moron/idiot.
Irayo : Thank you.
Oel ngati kameie : I see you.

Hope you enjoy reading ;)

Neteyam was dead. He died a warrior, protecting his family, his best friend, and his people. They all suffered from the loss, but nobody hurt as much as Ao'nung. In secret, he had bonded with Neteyam two months before the fight against the demon ship.

They both started to get closer when Ao'nung had to teach Neteyam to ride an ilu.

- Here, get on it. Ao'nung said absently. He didn't care about these intruders' training.

- Thank you. Neteyam answered with a pure sincerity, holding no judgment even though he was probably discovering everything he saw here. He got on the ilu, struggling a little.

- What's that? Ao'nung asked, pointing at the clothes he wore around his waist.

- That's a cummerbund. Omatikayas wear them.

- Well okay but you've gotta take it off. He said annoyed. He didn't care about the boy's culture; he only wanted to get this done.

- What? Why? That item was important to Neteyam, he didn't have many things from home.

- It will bother you while swimming. And it's tight around your waist, you won't be able to breathe as much as us. He saw the other guy hesitate for an instant, but in the end he took it off.

He taught the boy how to ride all day, and was laughing at least half that time.

- If you could actually help instead of laughing every time I fail this would get easier.

- All right. Ao'nung sighed after another laughter. He approached Neteyam and went to help him reposition when the boy flinched.

- What are you doing? Neteyam asked, his body had unconsciously moved away.

- Your position is bad, I'm fixing it. Ao'nung said, like it was the most obvious thing he had ever said.

He placed Neteyam's legs in the right position, and showed him how he should be inclined when diving into the water. Neteyam tried yet again, his fist tight so he wouldn't let go of the ilu. He went underwater and held on. He did it. It was still going fast and he struggled a little, but he didn't get kicked off the ilu this time.

He came back to the surface, looking back at Ao'nung to seek his approbation.

- Seems like you're finally learning something. Ao'nung had his usual smirk showing up, just like every time he was proud of something. Even if, most of the time, he was proud of his own accomplishments.

- You could just admit I did it right, you know. Neteyam obviously knew Ao'nung wouldn't, but it was fun to get on his nerves.

- Alright, breathing training. He announced, already leaving Neteyam behind.

They sat on the beach, facing each other in a calm background.

- Breathe from here. Ao'nung said, pushing Neteyam's stomach with the palm of his hand.
