It was only one night.

“Request naman d’yan oh! Competition or pwede ring team up from different teams!” The hostess stated while she was standing on the coffee table in her living room.

“Oo nga tama! Pambato ko na ‘tong si Betti from PEP Squad!”

“Muse rin namin ‘to guys!”

“Hoy, tigil mo nga ‘yan. Ayoko nga!”

Amaris Bettina Calleja, the head turner they say. She has cute features and an adorable personality. She always had long curly hair that made her face seem smaller, among all her peers, she was always the tallest one. She’s almost as perfect a woman can be, because of her beauty almost meeting the standard. She has fair skin, long healthy hair, a round face with round puppy eyes along her pouty lips and chubby cheeks.

Of course, having these qualities and attention from everyone—not only men but also from women, would result in hatred and jealousy of other people. Although Bettina doesn’t mind because she’s happy being herself, she has true friends by her side whom she knows will not betray her and accept her for who she is.

“Hala may pambato sila, kami rin meron!”

“Ang ating MVP for today, si Robbi!”

“Huy gagi, ayoko pagod na ako!”

“KJ naman neto, minsan lang!”

A set of volleyball players whistled and shouted in support of Robbi—Louella Robine Espejo. Just like Bettina, she’s also a pretty girl. She has this small face with a pointy chin with round big eyes, small heart-shaped lips with her nose that’s similar to a bunny’s. She also has a great hourglass figure that matches her long legs. She currently has black long hair with a short fringe.

Unlike Bettina who has both good and bad attention, Robine only has the latter. She doesn’t want this treatment, and all Robine wants is to make people love and accept her, a people pleaser you might say. That’s why she’s always on top of her game and academics, but other sees this as irritating and a pabida. Even with a positive view towards the world and its people, she always gets negative treatment. She always tries, but it's also always voided. However, her efforts are not wasted since she has friends who remind her that she’s an amazing person.

“Ano puro nalang ba babae? Meron din syempre ang NU Bulldogs!”

“Kaya mo na ‘yan Oscar ah!”

“Mga tarantado, ayoko!”

Saul Oscar Torralba—the mestizo guy from the NU Bulldogs kept on denying, but he had stubborn teammates. He just looks like a male version of Taylor Swift. Of course, as a player, he has an amazing body feature. He has these brown eyes and uncommon triple eyelids that make him stand out from the rest, but maybe it's also because of his fair skin that he looks like he’s shining most of the time. His curly medium brown hair adds to his cuteness and might be the only thing or characteristic he has to balance his manliness.

Despite having this manly figure, he’s just like a child who enjoys cute things and a sweet guy. That’s why tons of girls have a crush on him, because other than being a good player and a great individual, he’s also a great student. Meanwhile, for the guys, it's rare to have someone be jealous of one another because men lift and support one another, unlike most women who try to drag down each other for superiority and fame.

“Ayan! Ayos na ‘yang tatlong players natin! Baka naman pwedeng magrequest ng kanta d’yan oh!” the hostess once again took the spotlight giving her all into shouting so everyone could hear her. Everyone hollered out of excitement.

One night that led to an unbreakable bond.

“I don’t really sing,” Robbi says in a shy tone while her hands are inside her jacket’s pocket.

“Bakit ba tayo nahatak dito, pagod sa laro eh.” Oscar sighs and looks down, seems like he’s really tired from today’s game since he’s usually a cheerful guy—or maybe he’s just shy towards the girls around him at the moment.

“Hey! Stop it, minsan lang naman ‘to. Let’s sing nalang for them!” Not winning in tonight’s cheering competition, Bettina still looked happy and optimistic.

“Hindi nga ako kumakanta, I play instrument. I play behind the scenes.” Robbi explained herself calmly, but she still sounded irritated because of her tone.

“Ako, pagod ako. Ayoko talaga.” Oscar adds, shaking his head with his lips formed into a straight line.

“Hm. I’ll treat you guys nalang, dali na at gusto ko na ring bumaba rito at maupo eh.” The two can’t help but find Bettina in front of them cute after she pouts stating her side. There’s something about her.

“Ano bang kanta?” Oscar, a softie that he is easily gives up.

“Alam niyo ba yung Bakit Ganyan Ka? by Gracenote and Chito Miranda.” While explaining, Betti looked like she had hearts in her eyes.

“Ayan ‘yong may acoustic version ‘di ba?” Now, Robbi asks like she was excited for a moment. “Sorry.” She apologizes because of the sudden high voice.

“Yep!” Bettina excitedly said while smiling at Robbi, saying yes while having little hops.

“You two sing, hiram lang akong acoustic guitar.” Robbi leaves asking their hostess if she has a guitar in her condominium.

The three played together. It may not look like it, but they also enjoyed playing in the night looking at each other’s sparkling eyes.

One night that also led to tangled hearts.
