The rise and fall of bravery

The sun felled Icarus, but in his last moments he was free.

Kneeling at the throne she forces the screams of pain down her throat, tears burning her eyes. She feels the iron materializing around her wrists growing heavier and tighter. A reminder; she will always be a simple mortal compared to the gods. "Celestial Kingdom will be kept on Olympus, chained to the palace where she will no longer serve as a threat to the gods." Zeus's voice boomed, the god looked down at her, his blue eyes sharp and unnerving. She tensed looking away from the god only for eyes to catch with anothers. He looked guilty, his cheerful smile a small frown, but he looked up, piercing blue gaze cutting into her brown eyes and she took comfort in knowing that she had someone on her side.

It was the simple mishaps of gods, taking threats in before they are even to the point of danger.

Celestial strode on the marble floors of Olympus chain clattering against the ground. She shifted her wrists and the cuffs digging into her skin uncomfortably. She leaned heavily on the railing of the ledge that overlooked the gardens. The minor gods were about laughing cheerfully; there were nymphs fluttering around freely, under no one's control. She drew her gaze away from the scene, a bitter taste rising in her mouth and she continued on her walk, head clogged with dark thoughts.

A familiar god strode next to her matching her pace, his bright glow attracting the residents of Olympus. Though, as if sensing her discomfort from the attention he gently entwined their hands leading her into the wide corridors. "How do you feel about going on a joy ride?" He asked gently, glancing down at Celestial. "Sounds better than anything," She whispered, voice caught on emotion.

In the cold she could find the sun for comfort.

Her hair flutters in her face and she brushes it away leaping forward with a swing. The god swept around her attack and lunged at her with his spear. She ducked and fainted to his right before jabbing sharply at his heel from the left, the sword made contact and she grinned victoriously. Ares growled and ripped her weapon out of her hands and tossed it away. "Watch it punk, you're still a puny demigod." He snarled. "Watch it Ares, you're still a big-headed fool." The god roared in fury and made a move but with a flick of her fingers she sucked the luck out of him and he stopped short and dropped to the floor with a bang.

And yet she was a fool for ever thinking her savior would come.

The arrow cuts through the air before falling into the bullseye. Celestial exhaled and ran her hands through her hair, the chain jangled, before she walked to retrieve the arrow. "And I thought my hunters and I were the only archery masters here." "What about your brother?" "You and I both know he couldn't shoot a bear." She finds the moon goddess giving her a thoughtful look. "Although, I have to admit he had gotten better after he met you." "I really do think it's the other way around," She replied ruefully. Artemis let her gaze settle on the girl who had been trapped wrongfully on Olympus, and the distant faraway look in her eyes as Celestial looked at the sunlight.

The moon goddess knew there was a change in the sun.

Celestial curled up with her notepad, scanning the pencil scratching against the paper. "Hey there beautiful," She looked up and saw familiar blue eyes staring back at her. "Sunshine," She greeted faintly. Celestial drew in his charming smile and colored in his bright blue eyes. The sun god's lips twitched watching as she drew him. But the smile melted into a frown as he noticed her hand trembling with the weight of the cuff. "Hey, don't strain yourself." He whispered gently, removing the art supplies from her hands. He held her in a hug, Celestials face smoothed out in sympathy. She stroked his golden hair, holding onto him, "I'm alright, we're alright, that's all that matters now." He sniffled and buried his face in the crook of her neck, "I just don't want to lose you too." Celestial swallowed thickly, but stayed silent.

In a time of pain and contorting it is the comfort of those who love that heals.

Guilt clawed at her throat as she held the children of Hermes close, chatter and singing from around the campfire filled in the quiet night. "Kingdom! What do you think," She leant over to see the plan the Stoll brothers had drawn. "The borders here," She tapped the map, "Would be much more stronger than here," She said thoughtfully. A little girl tugged on her arm and she looked down as the two boys beside her hunched over the map and added on to her observations. "Will you stay here?" Celestial smiled brokenly, because she knew that wasn't possible.

She cared for those missing their hero, and leant them her love.

"Why is it you must always be so cruel?" Her voice wavered as she stared at the king of gods. "You dare speak to me in that way girl?" Zeus sparked with electricity, his blue eyes burning with anger. "You let your daughter be put at risk because you broke an oath to the styx." Thunder boomed and Zeus seemed to be towering over her. Gods hated to be defied it was a miracle the god of the sky hadn't blasted her where she stood. "You girl, have no idea of the power I withhold, I could kill you right where you stand." "But you haven't, why? Because you're scared and paranoid. You believe it is okay for demigods, such as myself, to hold the wait of you foolish immortals." There were yells of outrage as the other gods were offended by her brash words, but Celestial's glare never left the king of gods.

Meanwhile Apollo seethed, at the threats his father was throwing, at the other gods who couldn't bother to step off their 'high and mighty' thrones. All because they feared the soul of someone they had imprisoned. He raised his nose in defiance as the other Olympians gave him looks for defending the girl as she uttered the dreaded words, "In the time of need the prophecy claims, you can presume I will not lend you luck." And to believe, the others were infuriated because she decided to stand up for the three poor demigods, Annabeth Chase, Luke Castellan, and Thalia Grace.

It was in their blood to fear what they did not understand.
