The kingdom of Aræn, standing mightily in its glory, loomed over the shadowy forest surrounding its strong stone walls. Within the protective eighteen-foot-tall high layers of rock, the most prosperous realm flourished. A successful marketplace lined the outskirts, homes nearby for easy access. Towards the center rested important buildings such as merchants' headquarters and armories. Alas, the real sight rested at the core. Brick upon stone brick, the region's largest castle, hand-built only by the ruler himself, towered over the lesser buildings like a great dragon to a cluster of ants. The castle itself was given a name by the king, its title being Zephyr. The market and homes around it: Balamb. A diverse community of beings occupied Balamb, coming from all over different lands. Their ruler, a proud Chocobo named Choco, was welcoming and friendly to everyone, usually only partaking in war when necessary. They had many resources thanks to the bird's ability to make almost everything renewable. All-in-all, it was a great place to be in perfect harmony.

He wanted so badly to just lie down in the crook of a nearby tree, and rest peacefully watching the orange-ish flares in the sky turn to purple through the heavily green leaves overhead. The sharp pains in his screaming feet yelled at him to do otherwise, just wanting a permanent shelter this time after nights of camping in shrubs and under thick branches. This yearning kept him on those howling feet, as he continued to muster up the strength to push on through the tangled leaves and overgrowth. The young teenager was determined to reach Aræn as quickly and easily as he could. Why fight so hard for a simple goal, especially as just a lone traveler? Scars engraved on the boy's light skin along his arms and torso indicated a much more rough-seeming past than first appearance. Yes, this boy was not just a mere young adult looking for opportunity in such a fine kingdom like Aræn. There was a greater purpose, for he was a renowned skilled warrior for his loyal services to his own kingdom. He was sent for help, and to deliver the devastating news of what happened to what was once his warm home.
