Seokjin hasn't had the best day. From him burning his breakfast to his taxi getting delayed, everything seemed to be testing his patience. With a pounding headache, he took a seat on the flight, his baby in his lap. The baby looked around him with wide eyes, taking in the new surroundings with fascination.
Everything was fine . . .
Till Jungkook started crying.
No, not crying.
Screaming his tiny lungs out!
"I don't know why you would bring a baby if you don't know how to shut it up," came a comment from a man on the aisle seat.
Seokjin was taken aback by his tone but before he could even open his mouth to respond, the man seated in the window seat seemed to give him a piece of his mind.
"It's a baby. Babies cry to communicate. You're an adult. I don't know why brainless people like you travel by flight when you don't know how to zip your mouth shut," said Namjoon.
"Thank you," said Seokjin before he turned his attention back to the baby, "Jungkookie. Aish, you've turned as red as a tomato."
"You look exhausted," Namjoon noted, "Would you prefer if I held him for a while?"
Seokjin turned his gaze to the man, eyes almost pleading.
"Could you, please?"
Namjoon responded by taking the screaming babe from Seokjin and into his arms. He hummed softly and cradled the baby to his chest, the soft sweater he wore warm against the baby's cheek.
As he hummed, and gently rocked them both, the child began to quieten. Jungkook's little fists clenched around the soft fabric of his sweater and a yawn escaped his tiny mouth.
Namjoon cooed softly and dropped a kiss to the crown of his head.
"He's cute. His name is Jungkook?"
"Yes, it is. I'm Seokjin."
"I'm Namjoon."
"Thank you, Namjoon. I've just had such a long day."
"I can tell. You've got bags under your eyes. You look like you could really use some rest."
"I feel like I could really use some rest," Seokjin chuckled, "Trust me, being a single parent is no piece of cake."
Jungkook yawned again and scrunched his nose when it brushed against the fabric of Namjoon's sweater.
"If you don't mind me asking, where is Jungkook's mother?"
"Trust me, I have no clue. It was a drunken mistake and a year later, there's a baby left at my doorstep with a note that says 'He is yours, bastard.' It was hilarious. I expected someone to pop out soon after with an 'it is a prank' but of course, that didn't happen."
"Wow," said Namjoon before his eyes fell back onto the little one who now let out soft snores, "He's beautiful."
"He is, isn't he?" Seokjin smiled.
"Yeah, just like you," blurted the other, before his eyes went wide when realisation struck.
Seokjin blushed, "um, thanks. You're not so bad yourself."
Now it was Namjoon's turn to blush.
"Ahem. I- yeah. Thanks."
"He's so comfortable with you. It's adorable honestly," he continued.
To be continued . . .
