Chapter 9

Amber’s Point of View

3 days passed Asher and I are fine, I also left the hospital because it was super boring staying there, and besides the doctors also told me that it’s better for me to leave the hospital so that every day especially every morning I can inhale a fresh air.

Even if I’m not in the hospital we brought also two nurses with us so that they can still monitor my condition. But we went back today for my appointment with my obstetrician and cardiologist.

“Dr. Loraine, is it okay if I have a heart transplant even though I’m pregnant?” Asher and I looked at each other. I’m afraid of what the doctor will say.

“In your current condition , getting pregnant is quite dangerous for you, because cardiac surgery is avoided during pregnancy due to maternal and fetal risks. Me and your other doctors recommend you to perform the surgery during your second trimester (between 13-28 weeks of gestation).” He explained to us. I’m very grateful that they provide solution for my pregnancy and allow me to continue this.

“Don’t worry Ms. Montemayor we are here to accompany you on this journey, I also have good news for the both of you Ms. Bea Arthur is willing to donate his heart for you, let’s just call her when the transplant is ready to held. We also know her illness don’t worry she is still compatible to donate even though she has a cancer.” I just smiled but deep inside I felt sorry for her. She also became my friend and we also share something together. We left Dr. Loraine’s office I remain being quiet till the moment we were inside the car.

“Amber, are you okay? Why do you seem to be very, quite is there any problem?” while he was driving , he grabbed my hand and hold it tight.
“I feel sorry for Bea, she’s too young to leave this world.”

“We can’t do anything about that because that’s human life. The day will come and the lord will take us and we should be ready at any time.”

We were about to turn when a fast truck suddenly greeted us, Asher immediately turn the steering wheel to avoid the truck, but the car bumped into a big tree, he immediately hugged me and locked my stomach and head.

That’s the main reason why the broken glass hit his back, his head was also affected due to the strong impact of our collision. My body can’t move itself because of the pain but I did everything to reach my bag, and still manage to dial my mom’s number.

“Amber how are you? We are waiting here at home for our lunch date.” Mom answered the call.
“Mom, Asher and I had an accident.” I dropped the phone before losing consciousness. With my eyes closed, I was still thinking about Asher and our baby.

Rochelle Point of View

After hearing what Amber said, I felt like the blood ran out of my body.

“What’s wrong Rochelle? Why are you so pale?” I was just surprised when Philip my husband suddenly spoke behind me.

“Amber and Asher had an accident.” I said while trembling.

He was about to speak when suddenly my cellphone rang, when I answered it was one of the rescuers.

“Hello, is this ma’am Rochelle? How are you related to this, persons named Amber Naomi Montemayor and Asher Ethan Monteverde?”

“Amber is my daughter and Asher is her fiancée, which hospital we’re they taken to?”
“They were brought here to the San Lazaro Medical Hospital. You need to come here right away.” I immediately hung up, I also told Philip and Asher’s parents about what happened to them. we immediately went to the hospital we passed by Asher’s car with, its front part very cracked.

When we arrived at the hospital, we first asked the front desk what room we’re they taken, they accompanied us to the emergency  room.

We waited outside the ER for a few hours before the doctors came out.
“How are our children?” Asher’s mommy asked while crying.

“We have good news, but there is also a bad news, the good news is Ms. Montemayor and her baby is safe, but we are sorry to tell you that due to the strong impact of Mr. Monteverde’s head injury this is what caused him to be in coma.” Explained by the doctor.

“What? When will my son wake up?” Asher’s dad asked.

“We can’t say right now the exact time of when is he going to wake up, but I’ll just be honest with you that the possibility that he will wake up is very low.”  Christina started crying because of what she heard, even me I can’t imagine that Asher will be in this situation.

“We’re going to move Ms. Montemayor to a private room, while Mr. Monteverde is in the ICU. You can visit them now.
