☆ Occulti: A magic user. This includes supernatural entities like vampires, werewolves, and other similar entities.
☆ Passive: A non-magic user.
☆ Astrolite: A passive that became an occulti by learning magic; Not to be confused with a kerei.
☆ Kerei: An occulti who was born as a passive but became an occulti either via a direct curse or being raised by occulti at a young age. - Curiously, it isn't too uncommon for abandoned house pets to become a kerei, but this is in no way exclusive to them.
☆ Theurgi: The offspring of a passive and either an occulti, astrolite, or kerei; Most Theurgi inherit some traits and abilities from their occulti/kerei/astrolite parent.
☆ Magius: A catch-all umbrella term used when referring to any magic user regardless of origin or upraising.

Before I explain her backstory, I should probably introduce Hippolyte herself.
Hippolyte is an anthropomorphic, female pomsky kerei* with white fur and an almost teddy-bear like haircut. She is around 15 years old in dog years (which is roughly 225 years old in human years), but she does have the same lifespan as an average human.
Hippolyte's appearance is based on Pongki, and to an extent, Boo. Although, the latter's only connection is the same haircut style. Although she is technically quadrupedal, Hippolyte is capable of walking bipedally (Think something like Purrloin from Pokémon).
Initially born in Vermont not too far from Lake Champlain, Hippolyte was actually named "Snowball" at her birth by her mom. However, due to a messy divorce that her parent's owners were having, the presence of another mouth to feed lead the couple to dumping the infant pup out in the middle of nowhere and leaving the defenseless baby to fend for herself. The only reason she is still alive to this day is because of pure luck.
While a group of fairy settlers were finding new territory, two of the fey on the journey, who were part of a fae race consisting of anthropomorphic corgis, got distracted by the whimpering of what they assumed to be one of their own kind. After desperate begging to keep the pup, the head of the seelie court reluctantly granted the couple their wish so they could be quiet as the fairies settled in to a new home in their own realm.
Being raised in the fairy world as a pup despite initially being mortal, Hippolyte naturally gained some magical properties. For example, her fur is incredibly fluffy and she can manipulate nature. However, this does come with a few downsides, such as being weakened by iron or silver. Oddly enough, many of the supposed weaknesses of the supernatural are not fatal, but can still be exploited if need be.
To give a few examples:
- A werewolf can be killed by any type of bullet, but silver bullets are the most efficient.
- Vampires can go out in the sun, but their abilities will be weakened.

RandomHippolyte can raise a lot of questions. How is she able to be both a student and a barn dog? How can she even talk? Well, this should (hopefully) provide some explanations about this little floof.
