Y/n woke up with a jolt as she looked around. Nothing surrounded her except for an expansive forest. The grass on the floor tickled her feet as she stood, and the flowers stood tall next to her. The sound of rushing water lured her in as she tried to find the source only to end up in a familiar place. The lake once filled with lily pads and sparkling fairies has become dull and murky.
The forest suddenly seemed so much colder than she remembered. Walking toward the lake she did not float as before but sank. The murky waters consumed her taking her breath away as she slipped farther away from the forest. Y/n tried to breathe but water replaced her air suffocating her. Y/n tried to swim to the surface but it felt with every stroke that the light dimmed.
Y/n closed her eyes ready to accept her fate when she felt air fly past her and fill her lungs. Gasping Y/n looked around once more. Instead of the dying forest, she was once in a lone tree stood in front of her, big enough to cover her entire sight. Looking down Y/n watched as she walked through the grass flowers turning her way. Y/n laughed as she ran through the small space tripping over her own feet as she did so.
For the first time in a while, the girl felt a sense of freedom. Spinning around Y/n watched as her dress covered in flowers changed color with each twirl. Wings shaped like a butterfly's gently swayed behind her delicately fluttering when the wind caressed them. Y/n let out a squeal as she tripped once more landing on her back. Sitting up Y/n looked back up at the tall tree.
A deep red color caught Y/n's attention when she looked down at the roots of the tree. Her wings fluttered with each step she took toward the tree making her bounce in her steps. Settling down by the roots of the tree was a tiny opening. Bending down Y/n looked into the hole a look of surprise filled her face when she saw what was inside. Reaching in Y/n plucked the ruby-red mushroom from the ground.
She had no time to react as a hand shot through the ground. A gasp fell from her lips as she tried to move away from the appendage but it was too late as it had already attached itself to her wrist. The hand was warm but rough as it dragged her closer. The world around her slowly died as the hand kept trying to pull her down, turning the bright and colorful world into something dark and dangerous.
Finally, with one final pull Y/n flew back into the air her wings holding her up as she moved back from the tree. The world slowly turned back to what it once was and the hand suddenly turned into an arm and seemed to be struggling as it tried to come up from the ground but gave up and retreated. A little more than startled Y/n laid on the ground looking up at the bright sky as tiny little fairies flew by them.
The fairies fret over the girl and her now bruised arm trying to help her. A dark imprint of the hand that was once holding her seemed to have stained her forearm. A frown formed on her face as she looked at the damage. Y/n chose to ignore the damage for now letting the fairies do their work as she laid back down on the ground closing her eyes,
As the world turned white.
Y/n groaned as she woke up. She reached up at her face to rub her eyes but stopped when something squishy poked her in the face. Opening her eyes she slowly look down at her hand to see the mushroom she had taken in her dream. Scattered across the floor were thousands of flower petals. Confused out of her mind Y/n looked around to see that she was back home in Pheonix Drop.
Looking back down at her hand Y/n finally realized that she wasn't dreaming as she hoped out from her bed. Seeing as she got up to quickly she fell to the floor before groaning and picking herself up once again. Footsteps sounded outside her door and soon the door was opened. Zoey stood in the doorway in shock at the state of the girl's room.
