'Run.' She had said.

When they came breaking down the door of our house. Father had told us to hide. Where was he? Isn't he going to stop them? The footsteps pounded up the stairs and closer to my bed room. As a deep, booming voice could be heard calling commands.

'Run.' She said again. 'RUN!'

She had picked me up and swung me out the window, the rain drenching me and flattening my hair making it sticked to the side of my face and in the crook of my neck. She carefully placed me down on the slippery roof of our house. The footsteps were now at the door. The commanding louder: telling them to break it down. Water started to pool in around my eyes as she pushed me slowly to the edge trying to get me to climb down the ladder.

'MAMA!' I called out, reaching out my hands to grab her but she had closed the window and turned away. Shouting and screaming erupted from within the house, spots of blood spattered onto the window, as I backed away, trembling in fear and almost slipping as I tried to hurriedly climb down the ladder, hoping no one saw me. Once I got to the ground, I pressed my back against the painted brick wall trying to catch my breath. They would come down, right? They that wasn't them, was it?

bang

I jolted as a loud gunshot rang through the air and a loud blood curdling scream could be heard along with more shouting. I clutched my mouth with my hands trying to subdue the loud sobs that escaped through it. My whole body shaking from pure terror. Quickly, pressing myself against the wall even more as I heard the window opening and voices come from above.

After what seemed like ages, the voices left and I unclasped my mouthed letting out the large sobs I had kept in, sinking, and sliding down the wall onto the soft, wet grass. I looked up into the dark, night sky. The rain pouring down onto me merging with the hot, salty tears streaming down my face as ugly sobs and cries left my mouth. After what seemed like hours I shakily stood up. They weren't coming back...
