Natasha

The night sky was dark and quiet. Nothing moved, not even in the once busy city below. The city itself looked different though. Street lights flickered on and off attracting moths and mosquitoes. The roads had been damaged enough where cars were pulled off to the sides. Fire hydrants sprayed their contents over the roads making the indents in the road fill with water. Traffic lights went from red to green as if there was nothing wrong. Glass from windows was scattered along the roads and sidewalks. Small fires were being put out by the water from the hydrants. No one inhabited the city. It was like a secret no one dared to find the answer to, like an incomplete puzzle that no one bothered to find the last piece for. The giant tower with the Avengers symbol was the only thing intact in the entire city. Not a single movement was seen as if time was frozen blocking any movement in the city. The Avengers weren't there however. It had been several hours since they had been in the tower. The city became too devastating to view and hiding was the least of their worries. In fact the only people still in the city were the many Hydra soldiers as well as the newly built base. The only non-damaged building still left.

Wind beat against the windows in the medium sized house out in the middle of what seemed like nowhere. "Steve, are you going to keep staring out that window all night?" Natasha sighed, peeking around the corner of the hallway. "I can't stay here. Not when there could be people that need our- my help." Steve briefly paused and waited for her to answer. "You can't go out there, you're not being serious?" Natasha seemed surprised. "Nat I'll never forgive myself if I don't go." Steve replied with a stern look. "Wait!" She followed after him. "I'm sorry-" he sighed walking outside. "Steve, don't do this, you know what they'll do to you." Natasha grabbed onto his wrist. "I can't wait here that's for sure." He gently pushed her hand off of him before beginning to walk away. Natasha seemed disheartened but walked back inside anyway. She stared out the window until she couldn't see him anymore. "So is Steve still pouting?" Tony's voice caught her attention. "He left." she frowned, her face stiffening. "You're joking right? He's not seriously going out there." Tony seemed more angry than amused. "He already left, I tried to stop him... but you know how he is." Natasha replied with a frown. "I need to go think for a moment." Tony grumbled walking off. "Natasha you ok?" Bruce Banner walked over to the orange haired girl who was staring out the window. "Steve left. How long do you think it'll take before they find him." she sighed. Bruce took in the words for a second before putting a hand on her shoulder. "Y'know he may be right about the whole heroes don't quit thing. I'm just trying to be reasonable. We can't stay here forever." he forced a smile. Natasha looked up at him, her face lighting up the slightest bit. "You're right. Steve isn't alone in this; we should've gone back already." she exhaled slowly.

"We need to know if Clint is coming back with us. After all he has his family to think about." Natasha stood up straighter, her mind made up. Bruce nodded, grabbing her hand in his "Let's go." he smiled. "You're coming too?" she smiled the slightest bit. "Of course, I'll follow you anywhere. Besides since there aren't any civilians a Hulk might be pretty useful." he forced a smile back. Natasha's face lit up as they walked down the hall. "Let's split up. I'll see if Tony's interested you can ask Clint." Bruce let go of her hand and waved ever so slightly walking in the other direction. "Tony, can we talk?" Bruce walked over to Tony. Tony sat on the couch with his elbows resting on his knees and his head in his hands. He ever so slightly lifted his head up. "Yeah sure, have a seat." he motioned to the couch. Bruce gently sat down and faced him "Do you ever wonder why everything happened the way it did?" Tony asked before Bruce could say anything. "Well no not really why?" Bruce replied with a hint of confusion. "I do. Maybe if we did something right the world wouldn't be in chaos. The Avengers are a joke if we really were 'Earth's mightiest heroes' Hydra wouldn't be controlling everything and we wouldn't have lost. Do you ever think about it? About all the bad things we would've prevented. About saving all those lost lives. You ever think about that?" Tony lifted his head up, gritting his teeth.
