Luna's p.o.v

I sit on my bed staring around my empty room, trying to study every last detail and inch, so I won't forget. My eyes wander to a picture of my friends and me on the side dresser that I forgot to pack. I pick it up and study it intently. Nathan's on the left sticking up his signature middle finger. I'm in the middle on Tom's shoulders with the classic peace sign up, while he uses his arms to hold me up. Abby's on the right hugging Lara and giving her a friendly kiss on the cheek, while Jack is crouching on the ground, chucking some gang pose, fuck I remember this day so clearly. So much has happened in the last 7 years, and it's only made us closer. It's going to be hard to let go of somewhere that holds so many of my firsts: the first time I sneaked out, the first time I wagged school, my first party, my first joint, the first time I got drunk, my first kiss, relationship, love...Damn, I'm gonna miss this place, heck even my school! I've called this place my home for almost a decade, and I'm not ready to leave yet. My eyes start to water, and I let a tear roll halfway down my face before I wipe it away. I breathe a loud sigh before I hurl myself up to head to the door. I turn around in the doorway to peer around my room one last time, before turning out the light and closing the door. I whisper a quiet goodbye as the latch clicks. I tuck the photo safely in my shoulder bag and make my way downstairs. I run my finger along the wall, taking in the house and atmosphere. The silence and bareness surrounding me are deafening, and just another huge reminder that we're moving. AGAIN! Long story short, my name is Luna Adams, I'm 17, and I lived in Sydney, Australia. Well, that's before I walked in on my dad sleeping with his 21-year-old history student. I was supposed to be at soccer practice, but I rolled my ankle during school sports and came home early, only to find them butt naked on the kitchen counter. I was only 10...something you never recover from. My mum was wrecked, and they didn't talk for weeks. She was on the verge of leaving him, so to try and "salvage" the marriage, we decided to move up to Queensland, Australia, I guess, to get a fresh start. I mean, apart from the adultery, I was honestly pretty happy and excited at the time. You see, I didn't have any friends back home unlike my older brother Marcus, plus I had just finished year 6, so I had a chance to start over, you know, be whoever I wanted in High School. Now almost a decade later, we're moving back, but on the upside, it's because my dad got a flashy new promotion, not because I caught him balls deep in one of his students. Mum and dad never did divorce, but I could tell it was never the same. I honestly think they've stayed together this long only for Marcus and me, so now that I'm almost 18, who knows what will happen?
