The bell rang, signaling the end of another school day at Midtown High. Students poured out of the classrooms, filling the halls with chatter and laughter. Among them was Y/N, a high school junior who carried a secret far heavier than his textbooks. He sighed as he packed his books into his backpack, his mind preoccupied with the day's events. Being a high school student with extraordinary abilities had its perks and drawbacks. Today, the latter was evident as he remembered the struggle to keep his powers a secret. Born with the ability to summon champions from the world of Runeterra, Y/N had always been careful to not attract attention.
He adjusted the straps of his backpack and joined the flow of students heading towards the exit. As he walked out of the school gates, the warm afternoon sun bathed him in light, but his mind remained clouded with thoughts. Midtown High was just like any other school on the surface, but for Y/N, it was a constant balancing act between his normal life and his hidden powers.
As he turned the corner, he noticed a commotion at the corner store across the street. His heart skipped a beat as he saw three masked men hastily stuffing cash into bags, their guns aimed at the terrified cashier. Without hesitation, Y/N ducked into an alleyway. His pulse quickened, and adrenaline surged through his veins.
"I can't let this happen," he whispered to himself, his breath coming in short, determined bursts. He closed his eyes, focusing on the connection he had with his best friend from Runeterra. The alley around him seemed to darken as he concentrated, the noise of the city fading into the background.
In a flash of light, Sett, the Boss of Ionia, appeared before him. The transition was seamless, a testament to the bond they shared. Sett grinned, his muscular frame towering over Y/N. His presence was imposing yet reassuring.
"Need some help, kid?" Sett asked, his voice a deep rumble.
Y/N looked up at his friend, relief mixing with urgency. "Yeah, Sett. There's a robbery at the corner store. Can you handle it without causing too much damage?"
Sett nodded, his grin widening. "You got it, kid."
With a determined stride, Sett walked out of the alleyway and headed straight for the store. Y/N watched, his heart pounding in his chest. The robbers, upon seeing the imposing figure approaching, hesitated. One of them, evidently the leader, barked, "Who the hell are you?"
Sett smirked, his golden eyes gleaming with anticipation. "The guy who's about to ruin your day."
The robbers barely had time to react. With lightning speed, Sett disarmed them, his powerful hands snatching the guns away effortlessly. The first robber was thrown against the wall, the second found himself flat on the floor, and the third tried to flee but was caught by Sett's iron grip.
Sett's movements were a blur, his brute strength overwhelming the robbers. Within minutes, the threat was neutralized, and the store was quiet once more, save for the whimpering of the subdued criminals. The terrified cashier, still clutching the counter for support, looked at Sett with a mix of fear and gratitude.
"Thank you... I don't know how to repay you," the cashier stammered.
Sett grinned, his voice calm yet commanding. "No need for repayment. Just doing what's right."
Outside, Y/N watched from the shadows, a sense of relief washing over him. His hands trembled slightly, the adrenaline still coursing through his body. He quickly scanned the surroundings to ensure no one had noticed the summoning. Satisfied that the coast was clear, he closed his eyes again, concentrating on sending Sett back to Runeterra.
Sett turned to look at Y/N one last time before disappearing in another flash of light. "Good job, kid," he said, his voice echoing softly as he vanished.
Y/N took a deep breath, his heart rate slowly returning to normal. He stepped out of the alleyway, blending back into the flow of pedestrians as if nothing had happened. The police sirens grew louder, signaling the approaching authorities.
As Y/N made his way home, his mind raced with thoughts of what had just transpired. He had managed to stop the robbery without exposing his powers, but he couldn't shake the feeling of unease. What if someone had seen him? What if they figured out his secret?
Unbeknownst to Y/N, a pair of eyes had been observing the whole scene from a distance. Hidden in the crowd, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. had witnessed everything. The agent spoke into a hidden earpiece, relaying the events to a higher authority.
"Director Fury, we've found something...interesting."
Director Fury's voice crackled through the earpiece. "Go on, Agent."
"The kid who stopped the robbery... He's got abilities. I saw him summon someone."
There was a brief pause before Fury responded, his voice calm yet authoritative. "Keep an eye on him. We may have found a new recruit for the Avengers Initiative."
