"Babe, where the hell are you taking us?" I finally asked Darrell, looking around our surroundings that passed us by. Sitting behind the wheel, "it's a surprise Sable. I am not going to spoil it for you." Darrell laughed, keeping his focus on the road.  We were coming up on 3 years and Darrell and I were still going strong. Their album Far Beyond Driven was released March of last year and things have just continued to go up hill for the guys. When I moved back to Texas, I did end up moving in with Rita and it wasn't till we approached a year in, that Darrell and I decided it was time we lived under one roof. We did find a simple apartment of our own, allowing Darrell to continue saving up while working his ass off. By the time we approached the two-year marker in dating, people began to ask if we were ever going to get married and honestly, we were happy in just being together.

Marriage was never something we both felt that we needed in order for us to be together. I didn't need a piece of paper from the state to prove that my love for Darrell was real. The guys continued to tour and because I still held the title of being Darrell's assistant, I was expected to come along. I never minded though, as long as I was with Darrell, I didn't mind where I was. Their fan base was a strong one and each tour showed that. I also learned that I had apparently grown a small fan base of my own, don't think I will ever get use to that.

Eventually trial for Ronnie started and my ex got 15 years. Turns out that night he was going to take me, there was what they called a "murder kit" sitting in the trunk of his car. They believed Ronnie's intentions that night was to end my life. When realization hit Darrell and I, we saw how fragile our lives were. Based off one person's choice, I would have no longer existed. Never to see my friends again. Darrell felt that us moving out of our apartment was a step that needed to happen, getting us a place with a good security system was high on Darrell's list but with how busy the band had become for him, finding the time to look around was becoming difficult.

Darrell had been home for only a few days and thought we should spend the day together. The plan was running a few errands and maybe a movie later. That was until he stated that he had a surprise for me and to get in the truck with no questions. Now I was left to sit in the passenger seat and patiently wait on where he was taking me.

After driving for 15 minutes, we were pulling into a driveway to a house that I have never seen nor been to. Were we here to meet someone? The moment Darrell parked was when I finally took notice that Vinnie, Rita and Grady were standing around as though they were waiting for us this whole time. When I got out of the truck, I was confused and walked up to Rita and Grady. Vinnie met Darrell at the steps that led to the big porch of the home, shaking hands. Everyone had huge smiles on their faces, what was going on? "Did I forget someone's birthday?" I thought to myself, side eyeing my friends. Darrell turned to me and smirked, "so what do you think?" he asked. Taking a look around, it was nice. Whoever lived here took care of their outside but cannot judge completely till I stepped inside. " Well, whoever mows their yard does a great job. What the hell do you mean Darrell?" showing my sarcasm before sighing at my boyfriend. What is he up to? I mean this is THE Dimebag Darrell, king of pranking people. I looked around for any hidden Bobbies with a camera in hand.

Vinnie, Rita and Grady all shared a chuckle at my confusion and hesitation. I shot a look at them. Glad I could entertain these ass holes. "Baby, this is our home." Darrell stated in a matter-of-fact tone. "What do you mean our home?" I was still confused. Darrell stepped closer to me with a huge grin. "We are officially homeowners. I saw this home for sale and put in an offer over 4 months ago, wasn't till a few weeks ago they accepted my offer and allowed me to sign the papers. Today is move in day, baby." Darrell explained. Wait, he bought us a home? Like we actually OWN a house together? I was about to be 26 while Darrell was going on 29 and we owned a house? "Are you serious?" I began to feel the tears begin to make their way to the surface. Keys were placed into my hands; Darrell was allowing me to open the door to OUR home. This beautiful man wanted to share his life with me, and my heart was soaring. I couldn't help but jump into my man's arms and smoother him in kisses. Everyone laughed at the outburst of affection from me before having me approach the door to be opened.
