It was raining outside and the smell of the hospital made me sick. Jonathan was getting his check up. He's 2 years older than me he thinks hes the best, I just laugh. He's gong into middle school in a week summer break is almost over.
I saw the doctor walk out of his room, looking sad, grieving over something. What the heck happened to him?I asked myself. Then, the blood started pulsing through my veins and it felt like my heart was inside my head and was pounding hard to escape. I guess I was panicking, I didn't know what was going on, I guess my mom saw it too because I watched as her smile died, her lips redressing into her mouth like they always do when she's made or scared.
"Ms. Franz? May I speak to you privately?" The doctor asked.
"Yes, yes of course" she replied then stood up and handed me her bag, "honey, make sure no one takes my bag."
I nodded, I honestly don't see why anyone would want tot steal it, she got it at a cheap price and the greatest amount of money she could have in cash would be around thirty dollars. But, moms are moms.
I must say I was quite concerned when the doctor walked far, far away to make sure I couldn't hear, but I could see them.
The doctor was talking, using his hands a lot, my mom was nodding and after a couple of minutes, she put her hand over her mouth and started crying, she was shaking, I guess she was having a total meltdown. I got super scared I didn't know what to do.
So, I ran to my mom who was covered in her fancy black makeup. I ran past the weird games that you had to put the beads in order or whatever, past the counter with the fish all the way to my mom.
"Mommy?" I asked trembling. Honestly I had never seen my mom cry.
"It's nothing honey." She replied, but I knew it wasn't.

At home my mom told me to go clean my room, while she and daddy have a talk. So I went upstairs, but there's this spot that I can hide and listen to my parents' conversations without them knowing. I sat there, still and quite.
I listened very closely as they spoke silently, almost whispering.
Then I could make out what they were saying, my mom, trying to hold back her tears, spoke louder than before, " Then he said, 'mam, I'm so sorry, we looked at the results and, your son has cancer,'' she broke into loud cries and her body, "He has a tumor!" She cried.
What's a tumor? I thought. So, I decided to ask the one kid I trust the most, my brother, Tony.
I went into his room, without knocking. He was on his mac, as usual with his head phones in.
"Get out." He said plainly.
"What's cancer?" I asked.
"IDK" he said.
I just hate when he says that 'cause honetsly I don't know what it means.
"Can you just look it up for me?" I asked.
"Why?"
"Science."
"Fine, but just this once," he said before typing smething onto his computer. " Definitions; The disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body. A malignant growth or tumor resulting from such a division of cells. Happy?" he asked.
"No," I said before leaving.
