"I got your rope." Erik said, "Y'all should get goin'. Berg wouldn't take long to reach your place, now that Surtr has fallen."
"What?" Aitri felt her body relax from one big tension.
"Surtr's done for." Erik said, "He ain't never comin' back before doomsday again. Sent back to his fire world."
"Thanks Erik, you and your brothers have done so much for us."
"Anything for Thor and his peeps." He shook Rishi's hands, and handed him the Gleipnir 2.0. Rishi opened another portal, and they jumped through.
Aitri had never ever felt more relaxed than when she saw her friends by the lake named Amsvartnir. Rick ran at the two, and hugged them together. Ishaan and Mikael followed quickly. The group hug quickly ended, as Aitri gave them the news that Pankhpur had been evacuated, and yet, nothing Berg-like had happened. And now, it was time for the five to cross Amsvartnir and reach Lyngvi.
"Okay guys, this is no rocket science." Rishi said, "There were once a bunch of monkeys who crossed the sea by walking on stones. This is easy."
"Rishi, you scared?"
"Oh, I am terrified." Rishi said, "I was in no mood to meet Fenrir. But that's life. Listen, we are gonna be quick. We need to be. If our hunches are correct, Berg is in Vespasa, trying to figure out a way to get past the Inca enchantments. He is a giant, and magic doesn't escape him for long. So, we gotta hurry."
And so, they took off. Rishi picked Mikael up, while Ishaan picked Rick up. And they shot to the sky. It was good. Aitri flew ahead of them, looking for Lyngvi. She didn't need to pick anyone up. And soon, they could see it. They could see the island. "There it is." Aitri saw the little snow-less land, with a big black boulder like thing in the middle. As they drew near, Aitri realized that the black boulder like thing was actually giant furry dog. A wolf. The biggest wolf there is.
As they landed, the noise made Fenrir turn. His size made him slightly slow, but still quite fast. At nearly forty feet, Fenrir's majestic body could intimidate anyone. Each of his paws were almost Aitri's height. His head was twice her size. The black fur had taken the hit of time, but was as shiny as new. His yellow eyes were full of hate for anything and everything. He looked at the champions, bent down to get his head to almost touch the ground, and gave his scariest glare, before putting a show of his fangs full of saliva, and snarled. His snarl shook the sky. And for the first time since before her college days, Aitri saw an animal and couldn't tell its species. She was locked.
Fenrir had strong metallic stakes surrounding him, tied to which, the old Gleipnir was binding him. But sadly, he had unbounded himself from almost all of them. Only one stake held the old Gleipnir, holding his left foreleg. The great Devourer of wisdom needed one powerful push, and he was free to run. To run free, to run riots and destroy everything. Standing in his way? Five young Midgardians, with the updated version of the rope that had bound him in this island for over a thousand years.
Rishi's battle-cry was something new, but was still very predictable for Aitri. The man was dramatic to say the least, and him improvising a battle-cry was something she had expected. No, it was no 'Avengers Assemble' thing, just humanly scream as a reply to sky-shaking snarl. And they jumped at the giant Wolf.
Fenrir waited, and let the five come close to him. Ishaan ran ahead of everyone else. His wings spread, he ran dangerously close to the Wolf's mouth, before quickly launching fireballs into the mouth, and flying away. Before Fenrir could get over this heat with his powerful coughs, Rick swirled Gleipnir 2.0 around one of the pillar-sized hind legs, and with one swish of a finger, tied it to one of the stakes. "We are not here to trick you, Fenrir, unlike last time." He said.
"You are not here to free me." Fenrir said, "I'll not be contained this time. I'll see this world and all the others burn."
"And that is your misconception." Rishi said, as he flew up and kicked Fenrir's eyes with both his feet. Fenrir moved to block, but was slightly late, as that distraction saw Mikael swirl another end of the rope around another hind leg. Two steps had been done properly. A few more were left.
Aitri swooped in from the air, and took control of the water around. Fenrir's hungry growl towards Rick was interrupted by a splash of a wave of water washing his head fur. "Gaah!" The Wolf bellowed, "I hate water." Rick looked at Aitri with fake annoyance, now that he was drenched. Rishi found a second to laugh, before he evaded Fenrir's paw, which was quite fast. He summoned lightning, and hit it close to his paw, making him flinch. "I am trying to make it as painless as I can."
"Save it, champion." He snarled, before picking the rest of the rope with his mouth, and throwing it away. Rick and Rishi again evaded his fore-leg and mouth. Ishaan had thought that he was safe, given he was up in the sky. But he had forgotten that ten foot long furry tail, that hit him hard, and threw him into water.
So far, Aitri had noticed one thing. Mikael had been untouched so far. Maybe Fenrir had sensed Tyr's blood. Maybe there was still some conscience left for a friend. A friend who had betrayed him. The betrayal that must have hurt more than any other.
Okay, no. Wrong. Fenrir's tail's next hit was on Mikael, who was helping Ishaan get out of the cold water. The next second, Mikael joined him. "Okay, enough." Aitri slammed her feet on the ground lightly, and shook it. She realized that it was an error, as the rope untangled from the hind legs. Aitri heard Rishi say to Rick, "You know, I realize that if we could tie that big head of his, we would be able to tie down the entirety of him."
At that moment, Fenrir raised and quickly brought down his free foreleg.
