Chapter 07 - Kindergarten

One of the most difficult things in life was being on time for school; be it for a parent, a carer, or a child, it's hard to be motivated for school. 

"Ruri, why did you turn off the alarm and then go back to sleep?! You're going to be late!" Rio was throwing her clothes on as quick as she could! She didn't have time to straight her hair so she will put it in a low ponytail instead! 

"I wanted five more minutes." Ruri didn't seem guilty at all that she's the cause of Rio being late to take her to kindergarten! She's already dressed, and eating a meat bun as she watched her sister try to get everything together. "Is kindergarten really that important?" 

"It does. It provides children with life skills and opportunities to be successful in all developmental areas, setting a strong foundation for their educational journey. It provides experiences for children to grow and develop through play and interaction."

"Eh? I can do all that at home with Onee-chan." 

"It can't always be with me, Ruri." 

Ruri pouted, "I don't want to be with other kids. They probably smell and they'll steal my food."

"I agree with the smell part to some extent but the steal food part is you! Don't pretend it isn't you!" She scoffed a meat bun, picked up her bag, checked Ruri's backpack one more time so she had her essentials with her, and then she picked up her sister. She will speed walk to school!

On the way near the entrance, she saw three familiar faces. Karino, Tamaru, and Mizuki were there. 

"Papi!" Ruri happily ran to Tamaru and hugged his leg, "Why is Papi here~?" 

"Oh my! It's Ruri-chan~! You're going to this school too?" Tamaru cooed at Ruri and he just had to squeeze her cheeks. "So cute~!"

"Wait for me, Ruri..." Rio caught up and she looked at her neighbors, "Why are you all here?" 

"We're here for that brat." Karino made it here not too long ago himself and he's out of breath. Karino gently pushed Rio to go ahead of them. It will be bad if Ruri's late. 

"Thanks." She looked at the kindergarten teacher and she smiled at her, "I'm Suzune Ruri's guardian."

"Ah, Ruri-chan. Got it. Here is her badge. And who are the other three people with you?" 

Rio stepped aside to help Ruri put on her badge. 

"Is Satou Kotarou here?" All three asked at once. 

"Ah! You're here for Kotarou! You're all his guadian?" 

"I'm his Mother." "I'm his Father." 

"Pfft!" Rio looked away and covered her mouth! Why did Tamaru and Karino answer at the same time! It's too funny!

"Eh?! Mizuki-san is Kotarou's mommy?! Wait, why does Kotarou have two daddies?!"

"Ruri, don't get involved in other people's complicated family matters..." Rio was about to burst out laughing! 

"Don't make this any more complicated, you brat!" Karino snapped at her. "Hurry up! It's about to start!"

They made it in time for the opening ceremony to begin. Honestly, it was pretty boring. It's basically the Principal greeting the parents and children. 

The first day was more of letting the kids get to know one another. While the kids got to know one another in their respective classrooms, the parents get to have refreshments in the assembly hall where there's refreshments and snacks for them. It also gave the opportunity for parents to get to know one another and get to know the staff.
