Haunting My Eyes

It started on one sunny day. I was sitting on a wooden bench, reading a book and enjoying the gentle breeze. And then I looked up, and there she was; a black silhouette of a woman with white glowing eyes. She looked as if she has been sketched by a five year old, scribbled down on paper in just one minute. When I blinked, she was gone. As I walked home that day, I would catch glimpses of her standing there, staring at me. I ran home, slamming the door behind me. When I opened my eyes she was standing at the end of the hall.

"Is this some kind of joke!?" I shouted at her. She just continued to stand there, unmoving. I sped walked to my room, grabbed a chair and barricaded the door. I didn't eat dinner that night, or the night after. I didn't go outside anymore, I didn't sleep, and I didn't eat. She was always there, haunting me. A few weeks later I finally got to sleep at 6:00am, when suddenly I was awake. She was hovering over me, her cold misty hands pressed against my shoulders. Her usually white eyes were now a fiery red.

"You can't save yourself" she hissed. Then everything went black. The next morning I woke up with scratch marks on my arm. She was nowhere to be seen, she was gone. I slept, I ate, I went outside, and I understood. The silhouette was me.

And I was telling myself to wake up.
