PROLOGUE

Waking up in a white hospital room is never fun. But waking up in a white hospital room having no idea when and how you got there is just horrendous. Well this is just the situation I am currently in.

Looking around the eye-hurting brightly lit room, all I could see were the monstrous IV machines attached to me like their life depended on me (even though it was the other way round), a couch placed on the corner of the room and a window covered with white curtains.

My heart was beating very fast or that was what it looked like from the heart-machine placed next to me. It began beeping so loudly that the alarm went on and the nurses came rushing in. They began doing something to the machines and to my arms, and all I could do was sit there. Confused.

After ten minutes which felt like hours, the nurses finally went out and I was wondering why my parents haven't come to visit me yet, or if they even knew I was here or why was I even here? Just then the door banged open and I quickly turned my head expecting my parents to rush in. But I was disappointed to see it was only my aunt and uncle, though I still felt relieved to see a familiar face.

My aunt rushed to hug me tightly, and I returned the hug equally as tightly ignoring the IV tubes attached, digging in my skin. After the hug, I finally looked at them and it was horrifying to find my aunt who was always so bubbly and.. neat, a sobbing mess with her hair flying everywhere and makeup smudged over her face. And my uncle who was always in a jolly mood having tears in his eyes.

Which could only mean one thing. Something had happened. Something so terribly and devastatingly bad.

I opened my mouth to ask them what happened, but my throat felt like it was on fire. My aunt noticed this and handed me a glass of water. I tried to smile at her but it came out as more like a grimace. I drank the water like I had never drank it before and gulped down three glasses. I then managed to croak out a flimsy "What happened?"

But my aunt caught on. She looked towards my uncle who nodded at her in encouragement. I looked at this exchange in confusion. Finally my aunt took a deep breath and with fresh tears in her eyes and started telling me the incident.

And what she told me.... Let's just say it changed my life forever.
