(Carminas' view)

Carmina sat in her seat, waiting for her partner to come to her. She looked around quietly, wondering if the new boy was in her class.

"Erm, are you Carmina Greyy?" someone asked from behind her. The voice was deep but calm and very unfamiliar.

She turned around and looked up into the eyes of the mysterious, new boy. They were midnight dark, just like before and for some weird reason, they took her mind off all the bad things that were happening in her day-to-day life.

"Yep, that's me" she replied, when she finally found her voice again.

"Well then, looks like we partners for this project. I'm Damien Black," he said, giving her a quick smile that made her heart miss a beat. He held out his right hand which she shook. It was smooth and had a strong feeling to it. She could feel the imaginary tingle of sweat run down her spine as the hand shaking finished.

She looked down at the table, unable to speak as he grabbed a chair that was next to her and sat down. Miss Quell, who was standing at the front of the classroom, clapped her hands to get everyone's attention.

"Ok, sit down with your partners and I'll tell you what this you have to do for the project," she told the class.

A boy of about 6 foot sprayed some water at boy nearby. Jake, her ex boyfriend.

"Jake, what are you doing? Sit down now!" Miss Quell snapped at him. She rolled her eyes to show her annoyance and started to explain about what to do for the project.

Carmina looked to her right to take a quick glance and their eyes met. She could feel herself burning with embarrassment, her cheeks turning bright pink. She quickly turned back to Miss Quell, who was busy sorting Jake out.

'Boy, he must be a disappointment to his parents' she thought, shaking her head at how immature and stubborn Jake was being towards Miss Quell.

From the corner of her eyes, Carmina could see that Damien was fidgeting around on his seat looking for something. Somehow, the noise from around her was blocked out as she handed him a tissue from her bag, after realising that there were some paint on his hands.

'Stupid Jake. I bet a million pounds it was him' she thought.

"DETENTION AFTER SCHOOL!" screamed Miss Quell at Jake, obviously losing her patience with him.

"What an arrogant snob," Damien whispered to her about Jake. She looked at him and smiled at his words.

"You have no idea. This is just your first day. You'll feel like killing him next week, I assure you" she replied back, as a matter-of-factly.

He gave a small laugh and they both watched together as Jake went back to his seat, sulking.

'His fault' she thought.

"Now, do you all understand the task given to you?" Miss Quell asked, completely tired after handling Jake.

They all nodded, knowing to not get on her bad side today. Well actually, every lesson.

Carmina turned to Damien, about to discuss her idea for the project when Margaret came skipping towards them.

'Please, Margaret. Don't embarrass me. Please. Please,' she thought, shutting her eyes.

She opened her eyes again as soon as Margaret spoke.

"What are you guys gonna do for your project?" she asked, looking at Damien to Carmina as if she was interested, but she was actually determined to know what they were both up to.

"We're thinking of making a small 3D paper sculpture of the Mona Lisa's head since she is quite famous," Damien answered back, giving no time for Carmina to speak. He then looked at her.

"Or do you have something else in mind?" he asked her.

She shook her head since her mind went blank at the sound of his voice.

"Oh cool. Me and Luke, my partner, thought of making a sculpture of Obama," she told him.

"Margaret! Come here!" Luke called from the other side of the room.

"Coming!" she shouted back, cheerfully. "Bye guys."

She winked at Carmina when Damien wasn't looking and went back to Luke.

"So, lets go get the stuff we need. I don't know where things are placed, so I'm not going to be much help," he said to her.

"It's okay, you can help me carry the stuff back," she told him. He nodded in agreement and stood up waiting for her. They both walked together, side by side, and she then showed him where everything was placed.

Once they finished getting what they needed, they went back to their seats and started on their project. Fifteen minutes after they started Miss Quell told everyone it was the end of lesson. But Carmina was too busy laughing at the story Damien told her about the time he went on holiday to Paris.

"Well, you shouldn't have thrown apples at him," she said, when she finally stopped laughing.

Carmina looked around at her class realising that there were thirty pair of eyes on them. She glared at them, and they all looked back at Miss Quell. Everyone except Margaret who had a creepy grin on her face.

"OK. Everyone, pack up. You can carry up next lesson which is...tomorrow," Miss Quell said lazily, looking bored to death.

"I'll take the stuff back. Put the sculpture somewhere safe," Damien instructed, his face red from laughing so much.

"Yes sir," she replied, as if she was in the army.

She turned around and put the sculpture away when Margaret jumped behind her and squealed with delight.

"You luuurrrrveee him," she sang jumping up and down. Carmina gave her a look that always shut everyone up. But Margaret was Margaret and she carried on as if they were the only people in the class.

"Margaret, please! Not now! One more word out of you and I'll....shave your hair off!" Carmina warned, not even knowing what she was saying.

"I'd like to see you try," she answered back, sticking her tongue out as if she was five years old. She turned around and ran outside where Carmina could see Anne was waiting with a mischievous grin on her face.

'Seriously, what has Margaret been texting to Anne. I am in hell today,' she thought feeling sorry for herself.

She walked back to her seat to get her bag and saw that Damien was there with Zack.

"Bye, Damien. Zack. See you guys around," she said to them, as she knelt down to get her bag.

"You too," they both replied in unison, even though Zack didn't acknowledge she was there since he was too busy doing something on his phone.

She turned around, avoiding Margaret's and Anne's eyes as she walked through the door towards them. But Anne was no person to ignore.

"What did you guys talk about? What a coincidence you guys are partnered up together! It's destiny you two should be together!" she giggled with pure happiness in her voice.

"You both are just plain weird. Please, not another word about him otherwise my head will explode," she groaned as she knew that they weren't going to stop talking Damien.

"But seriously you guys looked sooo adorable together. You two are like a match made in heaven!" Margaret lectured. She stopped talking and glared at Carmina.

"Did you just call me weird? Says the girl who drove her car into the kitchen window," she laughed as she remembered the day Carmina broke her last car.

"Whatever dude," Carmina said.

They all turned around and walked to their next lesson, English. Margaret and Anne finally stopped talking about Damien.

Carmina was too busy lost in her thoughts about the time she just spent with him. She never felt as happy as she was when she was with him. It was the only time she didn't have to lie about her life. It was the only time she could be herself.
