Darren watched as the clock slowly ticked in class. "there's no way it gets worse from here." he murmured to himself. He tried to distract himself from the endless talking of his teacher, Mr. Fox by looking at the girls in front of him passing notes. One of them was a thick-haired, tall girl with glasses and the one next to her was smaller, and had a baggy gray jacket. He tried peering into what they were doing, but just as he was about to see what they were talking about, Mr. Fox snatched the paper.

"What's this you guys are writing about?"

"Nothing...."

"Then why are you writing in the middle of class?"

"She was asking me-"

"You guys should be paying attention to my lesson not your notes. Meet me after class."

The class slowly filled with whispers as the two girls glanced at each other. "Damn," he thought, "thats sad." Suddenly, the door opened and he saw a tall, lanky boy with a clean hairstyle. It was just his friend, Nikhil. He quickly went to his desk and settled down, and Darren peered at him for a bit.

"Bro why are you so late?"

"I woke up late."

"You live like 5 minutes away."

"The gates were broken."

The conversation went cold after that, when he saw his teacher glare at him. "Everyone take out your notebooks and write what's on the board." He says. Darren really didn't want to do anything, and he could see that nikhil didn't want to do anything either. He looked to his left to see two boys next to him, one boy with hair that resembles a palm tree, and then another one who was really small. He saw those two play fighting, and he tried to join in, but then again got caught by the teacher. "Meet me after class." he said. He sighed as he glared at the two boys. The palm tree haired one, Kyle, gave him a look that had the word sorry written all over it, and the other boy srini just stared at him with no expression.

As time ticked on, by 9:15 class ended. Everyone left except for the three students, the two girls and Darren. Mr. Fox first yelled at the two girls once he realized they were gossiping about celebs, he then yelled at Darren for joining the stupid fight going on. He tuned out everything except for his friend, who seemed off for the whole class.

"Do you understand me, Darren?"

"Huh? Oh yeah, I understand."

"Good."

Darren quickly gathered his things and walked swiftly out of the class, going to his locker. The sounds of kids yelling, people opening their lockers, doors slamming, teachers talking all just seemed to pour into his ears like water. "Bro Archana made fun of my forehead it's not even that big." Amrutha said, a short girl with somewhat of a noticeable forehead. Darren tried to ignore it at first, knowing how its always the same insults over and over, but after two minutes of her relentlessly fighting with the thick haired girl, Archana, he chimed in and said, "why don't you take a few steps back like hairline did?" Of course this sent Amrutha into an endless one-sided conversation trying to convince her forehead isn't that big. He just kept on going to class, trying to get through the day.
